Affirmative action isn't an example of banning racial discrimination. Affirmative action tries to increase the proportion of minority candidates which is different from laws that prohibit racial hiring discrimination against minorities. And I'm ok with banning discrimination based on political affiliation because there is no reason this should be happening to people in the first place. Do you support laws that prohibit hiring discrimination against blacks, or businesses that refuse to serve blacks, or businesses that want to segregate blacks?

 

Does this law give the same "protections" to white, christian, male Trump supporters?

The onus is on those who believe discrimination is bad to provide some cogent argument against discrimination. Discrimination is the natural order of things, so in order to fight against it, you need a law to be passed. I need no such laws to be passed in order to discriminate. I can and do discriminate on a daily basis, and there isn't anything you can do about it. Neither can the government.
