How did a miles-long crevice appear in the Earth overnight?

What do you think happened? Is Africa breaking apart? Or is it something else?

Yes, Africa is breaking apart. It has been for millions of years.

This shows what's going on in East Africa.

So geology doesn't really know why, and geology is a much harder science than climatology. Unlike climatologists, they will not make an assumption, hard fact. But inject a few billion from gov't, who already has the answer, and see how long the gov't is proven right! Especially if it is the UN, and if our elites can make loads of money from the conclusion.

Millions of years in the making and eventually a new sea.

Of course geology knows. Africa has been breaking apart for millions of years. It will continue until the NE corner of Africa separates from the continent. (yes, geology can't tell you exactly when it will happen, but it won't happen in our lifetimes. )

Well, the geologist who spoke on it, did not know with certainty. You do, or so it seems. But perhaps he was just an honest geologist? I have found that non agenda driven men of science seem to be more than willing to admit that they do not know many things with absolute certainty. This was once a mark of science, to admit such things. These days, an era of the certainty of scientists is perhaps a new thing? It was not always the case. But it seems many of us who have been exposed to some science, have little trouble in exclaiming certainty. I think it may have began with the certainty of climate scientists. And yet an honest scientist like Dyson, has qualms about expressing certainty. As other scientists which will hardly ever appear in MSM.

Probably caused by patriarchal white colonialism.

It's a matter of time--millions of years (none of us will ever see it). Now, could I say when this will happen, or exactly where the split is? No. But it's pretty much how plate tectonics works. In this case, the Rift valley is where two continental plates are moving apart. Eventually, they will move far enough apart that the ocean will enter the rift valley, and then for all practical purposes the NE part of Africa has separated from the rest of Africa. We've seen the pattern in geological records for a while. Anyway, which geologist are you talking about?

Clearly, this has been caused by global warming.

I don't see why this is unexplained. The surface of the Earth is weaker and more flexible than lower down and we know continental drift is occurring so we would expect crevices to occur on the surface once a breaking point is reached. The surface of the Earth is like a stretched piece of rubber which suddenly gives - the drifting hard internal rock is exerting a horizontal force on the surface.

I think they understand it pretty well. They call it plate tectonics. There is no scientifically acceptable alternative.

So that's what happens when you don't pay your carbon tax...

Right, this is a process that will take how many Millions of years ???
And none of Us will be around to see it ???
    Who cares ???

Well if the earth is heating up inside you could see cracking, increased volcanic action, earthquakes, and tectonic plates shifting more rapidly due to a thinner crust.

Even though all of this is occurring, the old belief still exists that the earth is pretty much unchanging except for the constant slow cooling.

We have found water and nuclear material deep in the crust were in theory, it shouldn't be. Such a finding indicates a source of heat and fuel to increase nuclear reactions in the crust an maybe even deeper.

One scientist even theorizes that the planets with magnetic waves are much like the sun but much smaller and with rock surrounding it and an atmosphere. This would eliminate the need for an iron core to create the north and south pole.

Unfortionately this scientific research is largely ignored. It was not intended to threaten global warming politics but since climate models are based on a constant temperature from the earths core and this theory would mean the core isn't constant there could be a conflict in how the heat budget works.

Luckily in an attempt to measure the neutrinos from the sun which are a result of neuclor reactions they inadvertently picked up neutrinos originating from the earth itself. It is now a matter of time before enough detectors are made and made better so that we can have a real idea of what is occurring deep in the earth.
