On that, referring to your post #601, I agree.

So is the school system just doomed? There doesn't seem to be anything feasible.

Because the gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex corruption machine gets less of a cut when parents homeschool. Teachers' unions are among the top ten most powerful political organizations in the country (hell the world), a fact they keep under wraps because it is a gigantic conflict of interest with parents and students. Gov-schools are a technological dinosaur of a jobs program for AA cases, and a de facto daycare program for the single motherhood cabin industry that keeps the Complex dependent/baby vote farms up and running. They will cling to that tooth and nail via false PSAs, propaganda, outright lies, intimidation, and violence because keeping govschools, single motherhood and the dependency industry up and running is really their only chance to perpetuate their brand of corrupt machine politics further into the 21st century.

We should be dismantling our education paradigm right now in favor of smaller, tech oriented methods, but are we? Of course not. We will be passed permanently by the Asians because of the infinite greed and corruption of the gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex with greedy, overpaid, overpensioned teachers, administrators and school contractors at the head of the greed line.

I think some teachers get burnt out, and just go into cruise control until they retire. Allot of teachers are pretty damn good at their job. And, some are turds. Every profession has them. I think our education system is fundamentally flawed. We dish out more money per student than any other developed nation, and yet we get mediocre results.
Something has to change, if we're ever going to have a viable workforce for the 21st century.

The main problem is that our system is too top heavy with admins. Also, we aren't the most expensive per student. We're up there, but Norway, Switzerland and Austria spend more per student.

I stand corrected, you're right about Norway, and Switzerland spending more per student, than the US.
And, you might be on to something about the system being too heavy with admins.

That's a pretty complex question. I think we need to look at what other countries are doing right, what we're doing right, and what we're doing wrong.
As it stands as of now, we are not getting the best result for the money we are spending, and we're failing future generations.
