How White Castle Will Adjust to a $15 Minimum Wage in New York

How many poor people have offered you a job?

 

I'd like to see the author's math. Wages are 30%. The increase is 67%. That calculates to a cost increase of 20%. Where is the author getting his 50% number?

 

1) We have workers that will work for less than 15 dollars and hour, they get picked up in a truck and do good work for the community honestly. But understand; what they are doing hurts them, they pay no income taxes, dont build SS, and are despised for who they are and what they do. Watch any campaign and you will be reminded what illegal labor is and who is responsible for that; illegal aliens (not considering they could not survive if there was not a citizen who is floating him for personal profit.)
2) You can work for free, its call charity. Nobody is stopping you LOL, you have a right and if you are inclined you can volunteer your time to a task for charity. Thats what working for free is.

Childlike is having an idea and not considering the past and why things are the way they are. We have labor laws and have made slavery illegal; neither have to be a reality. Are you suggesting going back to the old ways with no labor laws and legal slaves? Is that the problem and the answer?!

 

Have you shopped at a Super WalMart lately? It's like Behemoth Central.

 

If a businessman is forced to pay $15 per hour to new employees who have zero skills. What's he supposed to tell his experienced employees who are making $15 per hour when they see a newbie making as much as them? This is absurdity all the way around.

I guess they don't understand that this minimum wage will not only affect places like White Castle and Mcdonalds. This is going to affect gas prices now as well. a gas station cashier getting $15/hr? yep, get ready to pay more at the pump.

Oh and how are companies going to deal at places where people already make $15/hr and all the sudden some new guy at the bottom is making as much as they do? Those $15/hr workers will want to be at $20-$22/hr because frankly their job is more crucial with more responsibilities. So 1 of 2 things is going to happen, they will fire those at the bottom and give the $15/hr workers more responsibilities, or they will have to give raises to everyone to make up for the differences in pay for positions and will have to increase the value of their services by a lot to cover all these pay raises.

Get ready for more people to be broke.

Oh and what about auto mechanics who feel they should be paid more than a fry cook? Well because frankly they should be. I mean why would a person do a hard job for the same money as something as simple as a fry cook? If I had the choice to work as a auto mechanic, or work for the same amount and doing much less work as a fry cook, yeah ill go work as a fry cook and enjoy a stress free day lol.

If tennessee raised the minimum wage to $15/hr I know I would immediately make bank doing my side work as an automechanic. because if car dealerships, places like autozone and Orielly's , and small mom and pop shops have to pay all workers $15/hr I can quit all other ventures and literally concentrate on auto mechanics because all those shops and stores will have to raise their prices on parts and labor. Since im in business with myself I can stay at the same price , which is already below what you will find at any shop in the city and can get new parts cheaper than most places, or I can bump up the prices a tad and still make a killing because I will still be much cheaper than shops and auto parts stores.

Yes please, raise the minimum wage so shops can tell people they have to pay $75 for an oil change on a chevy, $175 for an oil change on a BMW or Mercedes, and make the average price for a simple tune up on a honda $600 lol.

BUt the sad part is, lots of people will lose their jobs in this process, because a bowling alley can not afford to pay all those teenage workers $15/hr and simply going to bowl will start costing upwards to $7 a game per person. Chicken fingers will cost $9 and a small coke goes up to $5. Gonna have to pay $20 for one ticket to see a movie lol.

i had my triple bypass 4 years ago, quit smoking right then, never was much of a drinker.

 

I had a single bypass 5 years ago. Had my right eye fixed with surgery about 11 days ago. Changed the lens and now I see as good as when I was a lad. 20/20 except I wear glasses to read tiny print.

 

Everybody understands that. The question is whether or not raising the minimum wage does more good or more harm to society. For the life of me I Don't understand why this simple issue seems to be beyond Conservative comprehension.

The trick is to eat more than 8...it starts tasting better after that.

 

Assuming that the 50% increase is accurate (which doesn't make a lot of sense if 30% of the price is labor and the MW is increasing 66%) then that means for the lowest paid workers, their incomes will double, while a White Castle hamburger increases 50%. Which means that the lowest paid workers have double the purchasing power for WC hamburgers.

Which is what the MW is designed to do.
