Quote; When Trump came into office we were charging about $36B/quarter for access to our markets. Trump's tariff income peaked at $84B/quarter, and with no inflation spike.

Your 84B quarter tariffs/custom duties MUST BE AN ANUALLIZED amount??????????????

In 2019, Total imports from China amounted to $451 billion

    https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c5700.html

AND a quarterly tariff payment of 84B equates to $336 billion

    + 50B/quarter (86B - 36B) = $200 billion

Gee, even a 5th Grader would scratch his/her head over said figures.

    No they weren't.
There was no tariff driven inflation spike, no need to put inflation in quotes.
Wrong again, there was no tariff inflation spike at the producers level either. Further, even if there were, wages for US workers grew more during this period, that they had for the previous forty years, combined! With no increase in consumer prices and a huge increase in wages, you are going to whine about reduced corporate profits? Are you fuggin' kidding me? But, in the real world there was no reduction in US corporate profits under Trump, quite the opposite:

    Workers wages UP
    Corporate Profits UP
    Treasury Tariff Income UP
All with no consumer price inflation spike.

That's what is known as a win/win/win/win for the American People. That is the power of America First Economic Policy. And again, it's not that Trump is especially brilliant. These opportunities were always there, always obvious, it just took someone with Trump's commitment to the American People and the strength of personality to not back down to the propaganda blitz from the Fake News Experts that seem to have an ideological commitment to America Last policies.
Except that in the real world Treasury Tariff income nearly tripled.
    Cuz over 4 million dead.
These aren't passive events, they are both due to the actions of the Lying, Polluting, Thieving, Genocidal Outlaw Slavers of Beijing.
Trump's trade policies were a master stroke for the American People.
He was, and he was replaced by an Idiot, but, we have a new hope:

On The Ground In Iraq During The Surge, Ensuring That Navy SEALS and Green Berets Followed the rule of law and that detainees were treated humanely, and he did a phenomenal job.

Trump did a great job, but against overwhelming odds that finally beat him. When we bring in a governor, they have a vast political team to fill the cabinet and key rolls, Trump had none of that, DeSantis has no such limitations. He has extensive experience in government.
They have limitations, geographical which cannot be altered, but, also limitations in an undeveloped population, that were deliberate choices on their part.
Vietnam is not building a military specifically to challenge us. Vietnam likes us. They think they made their point quite well on the foolishness of getting involved in what they feel are internal Vietnam matters, and quite frankly, I can't argue with that. Vietnam is another potential ally that the arrogant pricks of Beijing poked in the eye. They came in with warships and drilling ships and stole their oil right out of Vietnam's waters within Vietnam's Exclusive Economic zone, as described by the Law of the Sea, of which the Lying Thieving Outlaw Polluting Genocidal Clowns in Beijing are a signatory.
Ridiculous. All Trump did was look at how much a country sold us, compared to how much it bought from us, and where there was a significant discrepancy, he gave them a choice of either buying more from us, or paying more to sell to us. Every country makes these calculations and trade adjustments. The unusual thing was that we didn't based on the silly notion by "expert" economists that if we lost our strong back industries that dock workers in the Appalachia would learn computer coding, they didn't. Their communities failed and the workers lapsed into failed lives of addiction.

Does it bother you that you keep describing as "war" trade moves that were largely in compliance with our international WTO treaty agreements? But, the Lying Outlaw Slavers of Beijing loosing a global pandemic, you never describe as war. Why the difference in tone from you when discussing the US rather than Genocidal Beijing?

Not going to do this anymore - as the dance has become disingenuous. . Either the citizen or the company has to absorb the cost of a tariff.

So there was no inflation spike in these tariffed products - then the company is absorbing the cost of the tariff.

That's how tariffs work mate - and until you understand this - there is no point in continuing further .. and certainly no point in talking about Geopolitical issues... so -forgive me for intentionally not reading the rest of your post - as may have been some good content

We have the collective ability to restrain our government though the peaceful processes of democracy. I have no such ability over China, so of course, given the choice, I would take the US. I am under no obligation to allow the lying polluting thieving outlaw genocidal slavers of Beijing to spy on me.

Wrong. If the exporting country wants to try to maintain market share, they reduce their price. Since there is no evidence that the US consumer or producers paid it, that the exporting country paid the tariffs is the inference to the best explanation.

Now let's review: The same clowns who exploded in rage when Trump lowered taxes on US corporations, also exploded in rage when Trump raised taxes on Foreign corporations!

This yet another crystal clear contrast because the Americans FIRST Agenda and the Americans LAST agenda.

What does that have to do with the mathematics of Tariffs ? - and nor should you allow China - or any other nation - including your own - to spy on you through your phone.

The idea that you would rather have your own Gov't spying on you - rather than China - depends on the context - so is a bit of a trick question in that you will be wrong picking one side over the other - either way - in the general case.. Which is why I made the question more specific .. to take out the "Trick Question" factor .. in specifying personal security and liberty .. which obviously China does not have much effect relative to the the US Gov't.

but you got the wrong answer so perhaps you misread the question.. or were thinking in general terms .. despite the specification .. just overlooked it.

but what does any your response have to do with the mathematics of Tariffs ? did you forget .. or just finally come to the realization that your position is horribly lost - and so just drop it.- which I am OK with - as then we can move on to the assessment of the board - now that you have distinguished between a Knight and a Queen - in terms of relative valuation.

I didn't say the consumer necessarily paid it - and have clarified this to you numerous times - if the consumer doesn't pay it - then the company does .. So No- the country of export does not pay the Tariff - unless it is a Chinese company that is doing the exporting.

The majority of the Tariffs - were on consumer electronics - which are not Chinese Companies. When Apple brings its phones make in China into the US .. Apple pays the Tariff - whether they pass this on to the consumer is their choice - often based on market conditions.

As such .. such a Tariff - has almost no effect on China - perhaps a few lost jobs if Apple should sell less phones due to Tariffs .. and considering China is only 3% of the value add in an Iphone to begin with .. this is a rounding error on nothing.

Are we now "Crystal Clear" ?

    Yes. Backup is here:

    https://fred.stlouisfed.org/data/B235RC1Q027SBEA.txt

Seasonal Adjustment: Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate
    Frequency: Quarterly
    Units: Billions of Dollars

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

So, I took the following quarterly numbers /4 then totaled to get $77.75B for 2019:
    1/1/2019 75.528 18.882
    4/1/2019 72.068 18.017
    7/1/2019 79.398 19.8495
    10/1/2019 84.012 21.003
    $77.7515

But, if I select annual numbers rather than quarterly numbers, the Federal Reserve site does this for me and also puts 2019 at $77.75B - a damned impressive jump:

Good catch - using 2016 as the baseline it would be $37.53B vs $77.75B - a bit over $40B to the good.

And really that's the point the Dutch are making by telling this China Communist Front Group to take their phones and get stuffed.
Fake News. Given the choices as you presented them, I made the correct choice.
My answer to your request for my opinion was correct.
I don't blame you for engaging in a fighting retreat, you are getting your head handed to you, not because you aren't capable, but, simply because the positions your have chosen are easily refuted.

You clearly hold the positions for reasons other than fact, evidence and logic, and I fully support your right to do so.

That's a faulty reductionism. Consider this thought experiment: I'm selling a product on a free market and say I'm selling the product for 10 times my cost. If Trump adds a 0.15 tariff on a product that I'm enjoying a 10 fold profit on, and I want to maintain market share, I can easily cover the tariff through a 1.5% price reduction, clearly a potential choice you are pretending is "impossible".
Gee, weird then that they fought them tooth and nail.

I'm under no obligation to allow the Chinese government to spy on me. No one is.

Nothing is faulty but your inability to understand a basic concept - which is that it is the US consumer or Apple who pays the tariff for an Iphone - 'NOT the Chinese.

Your comment is irrelevant to this fact .. a fact with is Reality .. even though it is not in keeping with your Fantasy.

    TWO MONTHS BEFORE TRUMP's TWEET

U.S. intelligence agencies are still warning against buying Huawei and ZTE phones

Things are still looking pretty bleak for Huawei’s plans to conquer the U.S. market. Earlier this week, half a dozen top members of intelligence agencies, including the FBI, CIA and NSA reaffirmed surveillance concerns about the company and fellow Chinese smartphone maker ZTE.

You are claiming that the Gov't of China - has greater influence over the liberty and security of US citizens than the US Gov't. ...

Yes you did .. what a preposterous falsehood you are trying to spin - denying your own words.

I said the US Gov't has much greater influence over liberty and security of US citizens that China - to which you responded "False"

What part of .. this means you are claiming China has greater influence do you not understand.

Regardless - glad you now understand that the US Gov't has far greater influence over the liberty and security of the US citizen than China - albeit with you it is like pulling teeth to get you to admit the obvious.

The point here is not that we should be happy with China spying on US citizens .. the point is that you should be far more concerned about the US spying on US citizens.

Iphone companies could easily make products that ensure privacy - the reason they don't is because the US Gov't - as they want to be able to use these devices to spy on people.
