Well they aren’t paying now, which burdens our welfare system.

I overall agree with the point you're trying to make. But the problem isn't as simple as just economists; it's the ones who's school of thought has a stranglehold in the academic system.

One might think that with the academic system being as progressive as it is, you might get a lot more diversity of leftist-leaning views of economics into mainstream, but for some reason that isn't the case.
Or perhaps the reason is just stupidity, they don't even know how they should view economics, so the current consensus seems to be just focus on free markets with tons of regulation and interest rate manipulation and expanding the money supply by the Fed and that will be the solution.

Well anyway, the economics you're going to get is the economic advisors who politicians listen to, because most politicians, regardless of their ideology, don't really understand all these economic things too well.

Cap their benefits where they are, in the near future as costs rise, they will have to get a job to make up the shortfall or get the boot.

So the guy that waste tax payers money buying up extravagant furnitures and chinas is going to raise money on the poor to make up for his misdeed. Carson is the very definition of an elitist. This is what you get when you put a brain surgeon in charge of public housing.

Carson wants to force the tenants out so Trump's buddy Sean Hannity can buy the empty apartments for next to nothing.

You may believe Diane Yentel but I dont

But if you are right then the higher fees will not affect many people and your hand-wringing is for nothing

Lets help poor people by charging them more! That'll teach em that it's not okay to be poor!

Oh, so we're playing the "childish because I don't have a real argument" card? Fine.... what about the $190k worth of China, furniture, etc the Clintons took from the White House  Is this game fun? Or can we resume mature conversation, pretty please? We're talking about HUD's $40+ billion dollar budget. One set of furniture is not even a drop in the bucket, and has been debated to death already on this forum.

Damn right! If I had to choose where my confiscated tax dollars were spent, I choose nice office furniture over some morbidly obese clown that's most important daily activity is malt liquor intake and how many levels they are going to get in a video game!

Or you could see it as an incentive to teach them the value of a JOB and Money, instead of counting days until a date whereas the good fairy taxpayers recharges their little plastic cards ;)

Or as we call it, REALITY!

Or, via tough love / reduction of benefits / work requirements, we could help able-bodied low-income adults by teaching them personal responsibility, self-reliance, and working to support yourself instead of relying on others....

Do you really think Ben Carson knows more about low income housing than Diane Yentel?

Totally agree and they need to make everyone getting food stamps and all other entitlement programs to work as well. The hand outs have to go or this country will fall soon. Democrat socialists are the ones that love those programs because they're buying their votes.

It's also why they love illegals and are giving them AB-60 driver's licenses so they can vote. Even the last two elections at the very least have been rigged by Obama and the democrats. He eliminated the need to show an ID when voting for that very reason, handed them ballots, and the names of dead people to use on them.

And these people aren't coming here to work anymore. Now they're being recruited, coddled, and supported in sanctuary cities across the nation to vote for the democrats and all on the American taxpayer. So of course they're rushing the border ahead of the election.

WE NEED MORE REPUBLICANS IN OFFICE
get out and vote in mid terms to replace these traitor democrats in office.

SANCTUARY Cities across the country are handing these out now:

    AB-60 Driver's License Update:

"California residents who cannot provide proof of legal presence in the U.S. are now able to get a CA driver's license. Please visit our CA AB-60 Law page for regulations and required documents for an AB-60 license". You can see how easy it is here."

So he may have knowledge of the social implications of living in low income housing but hardly qualifies to the economic realities of the situations. But he also didn't grow up there. Why would you think he did?

Ah, so experiencing the hardships come lower than a liberal whitesplaining them.

18 years living in the squalor of bleeding heart liberal generosity qualifies carson to know more than practically anyone else in government

And certainly more than a wine-sipping valley girl

Ben Carson would be a shining example of an American Dream success story, if only he weren't a successful black conservative.

Not only can he relate to the economic realities of low-income living, he can also surely relate to the psychological realities (dependency vs ambition, etc) and he has first-hand experience of the success you can reap with enough motivation and hard work. Again, he's only vilified because he's a black Conservative.

Since the welfare problem has only gotten increasingly worse, why not listen to Carson's ideas? Obviously the current approach isn't working.

Well, since he didn't experience the hardships and squalor he isn't ALL that qualified whereas she is not a Valley girl and has been in the field over 20 yrs. Do you guys even know anything the people you're talking about?

Yes, Mr. Carson is a fine example of the American Dream and from what I understand a fine surgeon in his time so I'll give him his due on that but he can't really relate to the economic realities of low income living.
He's a politician now and like all of them they (amazingly) have all had humble beginnings. Here in SD they all grew up on a farm, walked to school, did the chores yada, yada. Of course when you get into it the "family farm" is huge with lots of hired hands.
He gets vilified because he has bad ideas and that's why I won't listen to him.

Fake news. People cannot apply for this ID to vote. Damn you are ignorant. This tells me you've never worked at a voting booth or voters registrations.
