FFS....she dropped out of school to get married. He lived is subsidized housing with his aunt while his mother received rent from the house she got in the divorce. Come on man.

 

I am generally not a trump enthusiast, and could say more about that....
BUT, I Democrats make a big mistake when they ridicule every policy choice of the administration.

In this case I have not looked into the policy in any detail.... so maybe it is in some way misguided.
Otoh how many of us on this forum actually have real world knowledge of people who use and abuse the housing system?

I do have that experience. Here are three stories. The house next door to me is part of that system. It is occupied by an undocumented family

My wife used to be employed by a company who chose an undocumented worker to be her supervisor. This lady also had public housing assistance. She did not marry her boy friend who fathered her child in order to remain on public assistance. This ladies mother has cancer... so somehow she qualified her for Medicare and flew her here from Mexico for treatment. This, all the while we struggled to pay for medical insurance.

Another employee at that company also did not marry in order to qualify for low cost house mg assistance

a lot of people are gaming this system in one way or another. That is a fact that I know from personal experience.

Otoh, a former girl friend of mine got divorced and became a single mother. She got some public assistance, Went to school and became an accountant

She was also only 13 when they got married. Thirteen. I don't even know how that was legal.

After grabbing all the goodies and freebies at a time when cost of living and much lower cost of housing so Carson get himself a medical degree, both Republican laws and Republican policies and Carson HIMSELF is fixing himself to gain a lot more part of the pie while making sure so many deserving kids like himself will never have even a ghost of a chance to do the same thing.

It's called "Screw everyone else, I got MINE!" To make it extra special, while masquerading as a "Christian" to screw even more poor people.

 

Carson owes far more to the influence of his mother pushing him to succeed than he does to handouts from the welfare state

Getting free stuff from the government is not the answer to poverty

 

That explains why so many impoverished black kids from Carson's era have become brain surgeons! Oh wait.... that isn't the case, is it.

Your reply is typical of the far-left mentality that hard work has nothing to do with success, instead everything is based on luck and government programs.

If the credit for Carson's success was nothing more than government handouts, why don't we see more success stories like his? Carson succeeded largely because of a mother who cared and pushed him to learn, combined with a lot of hard work, determination, and drive on his part.

Without hard work and motivation, no government program on Earth is going to make a person successful.
