What's going to be the impact on the national economy when all those insurance companies have to lay off massive numbers of employees [don't need them now] and then report end of year losses?

    Losing what argument?
What universe are you posting from? You said employers should not be buying insurance for employees and I said it's a great perk to attract
well qualified workers...and so it is.

"Creepy" that your employer should save you money that you would otherwise be using to buy insurance yourself? Yeah...........right!

Then that's what you should do. Who's stopping you?

    Incorrect

what has happened to literacy in this country?

Obama said that the ACA itself wouldn't force anyone off their current plan, he said NOTHING about companies not choosing to end your current plan. Now , an indirect consequence of the ACA might be that some people lose their current plan, but no serious person could believe that Obama was speaking of unintended consequences, because frankly Obama hasn't shown to be smart enough to plan for unintended consequences.

it's a gouged price right now - i can't afford to spend $400/month on insurance - but why should a private business be given that burden ?

    - - - Updated - - -

your comment was Obama never promised you could keep your insurance - you can't blame people for thinking you meant that Obama wouldn't

Because they accept that burden as a plus for their business.
Graduating students can work for (A) company with health insurance coverage and other perks, and (B) company with none of this.
Which company do you think the prize perspective employees will choose? Duh...and at any rate you assume premium rates will be going down.
That's not the case in any event.

LOL - it's not a plus. They do it out of desperation and they shouldn't have to. It's not an incentive for a business to spend hundreds and thousands on insane group insurance costs. Now, I agree that currently businesses use it as a means to an end of getting good employees, but perhaps without the cost of insurance they could pay the employees more directly. Let the employee pay for their own insurance - but even that can't happen because doctors and hospitals overcharge by the billions every year and force insurance companies to jack up premiums.

Costs borne by businesses are passed onto consumers in any event. The businessman just play the middleman and does likewise with taxes. Any tax piled on by government is simply passed onto consumers.
Ultimately the consumer pays for it all.

I agree with this. It was FDR that pushed businesses into offering health insurance, due to his NRA (National Recovery Administration) policies, which forced businesses to put a freeze on salary increases for employees. The policies stuck and here we are today with inflated medical costs. The solution would be to push people back into the market as individuals. This company-wide group policy crap is for the birds and just inflates prices on the whole.

Since health care is such a large percentage of our economy, I'd say this will be fairly tragic (and I'm being nice). =X

In video link provided Obama clearly says "If you like your current insurance, you keep it"...Unfortunately, he didn't mention that one's current insurance coverage may not be qualified under Obamacare.

Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more costly policies.

The main reason insurers offer is that the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting Jan. 1. Most are ending policies sold after the law passed in March 2010. At least a few are cancelling plans sold to people with pre-existing medical conditions.

Ah . . . what consequences there tend to be . . . in unintended consequences.

Oh, really? Did you miss it when The Messiah uttered this?:

"If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan."

Barack Obama on Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 in a town hall meeting

The dirty little secret is that many American businesses only offered healthcare insurance for decades so that they could compete for the best workers. Now that Obama has rolled out this socialist tyranny, these companies have all the excuse they needed to get rid of it completely and never have to deal with it again. Now when employees start to panic over the costs, the deductibles, the co-pays and all the rest of this "train wreck", employers can simply say, "Hey, go sign up with the Obamacare thing...." :roflol:

Thank a lot, all you socialist "useful idiots" -- you and that hyperliberal nothingness you put in the White House have screwed everyone who works for a living, and that may actually include some of you, too!

I very sincerely hope that it does burn absolutely every mouth breathing dummy in this nation that voted for Obama again in 2012. Get fooled once then shame on Obama. Let the man and the fawning mainstream media fool you twice then bend over and grab your ankles because you damn well have earned what's headed your way sans lubrication.

Or am I being too harsh and judgmental in regards to chronically clueless Obama supporters?

Phft... absolutely not! They deserve everything they get. I just wish the repercussions would leave the rest of us alone.
