There was quite a bunch of cheering from the left when antifa attacked people, not only at UVA but elsewhere. Why were leftists cheering these thugs, comparing them to WWII vets?

Where are the Left wing politicians disavowing rioters in St. Louis, injuring police officers during "protests"?

 

Are some? Sure. But not culture-wide, as the left does. But feel free to point out examples if you believe this is so.

 

The only speech that should be banned on campus are calls to action that lead to harm. Such as crying "Fire" in a crowded area, calling for riots and physical violence, or any obviously vile or offensive insults spoken to enrage people. Like taunting, "Hey Ni**er," or "You White Nazi."

With all the current PC culture going on at your campus, I would urge you to have a more detached view of all things political, religious and racial. I try to hold ALL leaders and people groups to the same moral and legal standards over time. I do not fall for Left's narrative that only, and only White and Christian people were, and are racist, and that events decades in the past are still the primary driver of current problems in minority communities.

I would actually love to take on any of your anti-free speech professors out of comfort of their "Safe Spaces" on campus. For those still preaching on the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow, I would ask them if leaders like Washington and Jefferson were "wrong" for having slaves, and should they have "known better?" I would also ask them if the leaders of almost every other group in the world in the late 1700's were wrong for having slaves as well, or just the ones with European ancestry?

Finally, I would ask these learned people what other nation or people group had more civil liberties and freedoms than the United States back in 1789?

No sympathy from me. When it came to picking out the college of my choice, I immediately excluded all state or publicly run organizations. I graduated with a degree from a nationally recognized, private run university where political activity is nil and attention to academic performance high.

There won't BE any residential colleges in a decade, they'll all be onlne. The movement of the larger non-profits into this area has broken the stranglehold that rich people have held on higher education for millenia

And honestly, this is what is frustrating for conservatives when trying to debate leftists; I'm really not taking a shot here, but I've found, again and again, that the worldview held by many of those on the left is shaped from a lack of exposure (and knowledge) of what is occurring in the world. I applaud those of you who participate in forums such as this, as it is apparent that you're not trying to live within an echo chamber.

But the fact that I have to lead you by the hand simply to open a debate is quite offensive.

I don't have to seek out a leftwing view of current events, as simply watching the mainstream media allows me to do this. But I still visit Koz and the DU at times to see what the more extreme leftists are thinking. And I'm not alone, this is common for us on the right. I'll acknowledge that some on the right live in their own rightwing echo chamber, but they are amongst the exceptions, not the rule.

But I find very few on the left seek out alternative sources of information. I realize this might force you to wade through some real crap, as I have to wade through some of this on the left. But if you really wish to debate conservatives here you should really expand your worldview a bit.

Again, I'm not trying to be harsh, but this happens frequently here. I truly hope you take this in the spirit it is intended; as I've said, you and I have had some great interaction here...
