"If My Vagina Were A Gun"

Just read this from Katie Heim and must admit that it struck a cord with me.

If my vagina was a gun, you would stand for its rights,
You would ride on buses and fight all the fights.
If my vagina was a gun, you would treat it with care,
You wouldn’t spill all its secrets because, well, why go there.
If my vagina was a gun, you’d say what it holds is private
From cold dead hands we could pry, you surely would riot.
If my vagina was a gun, its rights would all be protected,
no matter the body count or the children affected.
If my vagina was a gun, I could bypass security,
concealed carry laws would ensure I’d have impunity.
If my vagina was a gun, I wouldn’t have to beg you,
I could hunt this great land and do all the things men do.
But my vagina is not a gun, it is a mightier thing,
With a voice that rings true making lawmakers’ ears ring.
Vaginas are not delicate, they are muscular and magic,
So stop messing with mine, with legislation that’s tragic.
My vagina’s here to demand from the source,
Listen to the voices of thousands or feel their full force.

seems strange that guns and what people do with them are deemed a private thing, yet a woman's vagina and what she does with it becomes public property .. go figure.

But when a gun kills a baby, "Well, they could have used a knife or their hands or a pillow to do it too, don't take my guns from me!!! 2nd Amendment!!!"

By the way, I am pro-choice and pro-responsible gun ownership/2nd Amendment, so there.

 

I don't feel the poem is an attack on the 2nd amendment, more of asking why the privacy rights of gun owners should outweigh the privacy rights of vagina owners

Nine tenth of all poetry 'penned' after Robert Frost's era is some variation or the other of utter garbage. Pretty much like Picaso was to legitimate art modern poets are to poetry. Of course to be fair to Picasso he probably intended to be bad just so that he could see how stupid the 'hip' and wealthy segment of society could be in regards to art. As for modern poets, sadly most of them probably do not realize that they are accidentally baaaaaaaaaaaad.

Anyways, here's my response to your OP arguement. Pro lifers don't want women to be public property. I honestly don't care what women do with their bodies-if women get plastic surgery, use birth control, get their tubes tied, or even get a sex change operation. However, abortion is a very unique situation, because it doesn't just involve a woman's body-it involves the fetus, an innocent human being-a person. A fetus deserves basic human rights. A fetus shouldn't be punished just because a woman chose to have sex.

This would be great if you aborted vaginas but we don't abort vaginas we abort fetuses. She can do whatever she wants with her vagina. Im fairly certain that's that attitude that caused the fetus issue in the first place. A little less poetry maybe and little more self control would reduce the issue on both sides.

 

I think those that want to register guns should also want to register vaginas. They are deadly. Wars have started because of them.

 

I also think conceal carry vaginas should be banned.

 

Hey, I am all for open carry.

 

Me too except Im not sure I want to see those high capacity vaginas in open carry mode.

Abortion during the last trimester is murder, no matter how liberals try to spin it.

I suppose you could argue that a baby is not truly alive until the heart starts beating; I believe life starts at the moment of conception. However, I do realize not everyone is religious, so some people do not feel this way.

Abortion, in my opinion, is only acceptable when the mother's life is at risk, or if the baby is conceived through rape or incest.

Abortion is wrong in my mind and no feminists I dont hate my mom, live in her basement, not a christian radical, im not gay, I dont have issues, nor am I against women's rights

Anyways, how would you refute the "right to privacy" arguement that the OP uses to justify abortion being legal? My main arguement would be that it's a "pre conceived notion fallacy". People argue that banning abortion is not constitutional, while assuming that it's a right, not taking into consideration the arguements for and against it. Even if I was pro choice, I still would think that "right to privacy" is not enough to justify abortion being legal.

 

Using a vagina to kill someone?

Oh man Unifier. First thing that came to mind was suffocation. lol What a way to go....hahaha. In fact that's the only way I can think of that a woman would kill someone with her vagina.

It's about the view that what a person does with their gun is held as sacrosanct, yet a woman's vagina is public property.
