How would it change the world, in your view?

Would it even change it at all?

Firstly, let me reject the idea that some hold (I have heard it said), that a nation led by a woman would be automatically 'softer', and less inclined to war. I believe that to be myth, I don't think there is anything to suggest that female leaders would not be potentially as harsh (or not), as their male counterparts, and I see no link between them being female and them not endorsing conflicts.

Maggie Thatcher may not have looked very feminine, but she was a women, and she was a harsh women, and a harsh women that took us into a war, that most likely could have been avoided (with Argentina).

And I have no question that if someone like a Palin, or even a Hillary Clinton ever became President, that they would be no less likely to take the US into conflict, based on their gender.

Basically, I don't think it would have much impact on Western nations, at all, since there are already Western nations with female leaders (Germany).

The only reason that the US has yet to have a female President, is that evidently no female good enough to gain public support, has put herself up.

If there had been one good enough, I have no doubt the US electorate would back her.

I am rather surprised and dissapointed that there is not a better talent pool, among female politicians in America, given the opportunity they have these days, and the potential size of the talent pool.

It would cause much more historic changes, in non Western nations.

Women do have more freedoms in many predominantly Islamic nations, than some might realise (or concede), but there is no doubt that some have a long way to go, and others have a long long way to go!

However, if all world leaders were female, this would mean that those nations had (like we once did, as a nation), overcome prejudices against female freedoms, and allowed them full access to the political process, whatsoever it may be, in that given nation.

This would then naturally lead to a gradual change in social conditions, it would take time, I grant you that, and there would be resistance to change, I grant you that, as well, but do not underestimate the fact that all things do change, in the end.

I am sure that when Africans first arrived in America, neither they, nor those, esp in the South, would have envisaged a man of African origin one day being their President.

But it did happen, even if they could never have imagined it then.

Statistically there should be more elected women than men. I think it would be for the greater good of mankind.

Perhaps in non Western nations, but in Western nations it would make no difference - male or female, they are all beholden to 'the system'.

IIRC, Golda Meir and Indira Ghandi had no problems leading their nations during conflicts.

Whether a woman "rules" differently is largely a matter of the process that put her in power than her sex itself.

An American woman as president would be considerably different than a woman head of govt. in most other democratic countries because most are parliamentary democracies where a woman can rise within her party and then become head of the govt.

Not so in the United States.

Edit: Not sure if it is relevant, but it is no secret in the U.S. Marine Corps that women are better at men in markmanship at least early in their training.

Why? By and large, women are easier to train and take instruction better regarding firearms because they are not saddled with preconceived ideas of how they should handle one.

How does it differ in actual practice, as opposed to method?

In the end, both systems produce a person that will serve elites and corporate interests, often over those that voted for them.

lol....I agree. If you don't agree, you haven't known many women.

Nukes would've already been launched, consistently.

Well we'll just have to disagree on that.

And remember, elites and corporate interests vote too and they employ a lot of people who vote as well so even if true it is not a complete loss.

The difference is a parliamentary system plays to many womens strengths of building alliances, achieving consensus and coalition building.

The American system is more like a football game where the two presidential campaigns are basically like opposing teams.

However many people corporations employ in this country, it will never be more than the rest of the electorate put together, not anything close.

Besides, employees of a corporation are not the corporation.

Potential leaders should have a duty to the people and voters, over anything else.

That just proves that there are more male banking elites, than female banking elites.

If banking elites were female, there is no reason to think they would not behave the same way.

Hey, we have that German chick conquering Europe right now, without even dropping a bomb. She just has to hold hands with her midget friend from France and they all bow down.

I would have loved to see Benazir Bhutto live long enough to be around for the Arab Spring. I think she could have empowered women across the middle East to take steps even further towards progressive, liberal rights for woman in that region. Hell, I'd love to see the men in those countries forced to wear masks and be clean shaven while the women wear whatever the hell they want. She could have become the most influential female leader maybe in the history of the world. But that tends to happen with those types (Lincoln, King, Kennedy, etc).

Number one. Your 'black' president is half white. He has nothing in common AT ALL with the so called US Black experience.

Secondly, Have you ever watched what happens in a Women's club? Watched women as heads of traditional male professions? Watch them 'at work' in the workplace. I have. It is not pretty. MOST women are not fit to be in positions of authority. Same goes for most of those who are minorities. I didn't say ALL. But Most. Women and minority males have been fed the pap that they have been so persecuted that their attitude is....arrogance makes right. They are vengeful, narrow minded, arrogant and not averse AT ALL, to break or bend the law to suit the outcome that they feel they DeServe.
