...and no one will claim it's a stolen election. Many will be disappointed, but all will support their republic.

I think it was a good outcome for France. Especially since Le Pen has had support from Russia. That doesn't look good these days, lol

He just repressed demonstrations in blood leaving dozens of people one eyed, sold public owned industries for a low price, wasted public money by spending millions in private companies consulting (when he could have done that with just the already public organizations), cut taxes for the richest when giving more to the poorest. Make no mistake, this man is at war with the most poor, and that war may become mutual.

La Pen won in this poll? That is horrifying!

Told you we had a bunch of Russian sympathizers here.

    A Good Thing for
A France being less & less
a nation of French. Thinking, culture, art, etc.

    Globalism sucks France while
    Germany and poor nations, benefit,

at French costs. Get It Or Not!

I bet today "the French" would be
less likely to vote for Charles de Gaulle.

    No!

    France should be French in
    culture, language and "economy".

    Ask yourself
    What would DeGaulle say?

I doubt that you, or I, can speak for Charles de Gaulle, who, by the way hated the fascists even more than me or anyone else.
    France will still be French.
Just not in a fascist sort of way.
    **** the fascists!
    The voters have spoken!
At least I can spell his name correctly.
More than I can say for the fascists on this forum.

The French left so mismanaged things that they supplied the best arguments for the rightists. For those of us who are not ideologues and dislike those who insist on theirs, the situation is frustrating and disappointing. We see the need for humanitarian concepts and we see the necessity of individual effort and responsibility. "Right" and "left" both go too far in opposite directions, causing pendulum swings that crash into reality at the far points.
Macron is only where he is because of a window of opportunity that such an arriviste could exploit. He also had the luck to only have to run against someone as inept and unacceptable as this last opponent. In that way, there are similarities to Trump. Personally, he could not be more different from Donald. Still, in an important way, Macron does represent France sufficiently well for the interim. There is no vast improvement on the horizon, and, again, that is similar to the U.S.
