Yeah, right. And vulture capitalists like Swiss Mittens are real good at keeping businesses in business, aren't they?

And here we have another crock-of-(*)(*)(*)(*) from the usual supects.

It was never claimed as an "unnatural" monopoly. As a government "somewhat regulated" monopoly, many are familiar with the shortcomings noted with cable TV, which seem endemic to many cable companies. It is only with the advent of other non-cable options, such as the satellite services, high-speed internet, etc. that more competition has helped to curb the excesses noted. The point of the post had been well made ........ went clean over your head is all.

OBTW, many of your posts contain "get a clue". Oh the irony .......

Actually Mittens was very good at keeping businesses in business. You should read up on it sometime instead of being spoon fed crap from Obama your hero.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Without Government, these guys don't eat. That level of attachment and loyalty cannot be broken easily.

What does that have to do with my post at all? Let me try and simplify things for you.

Government and businesses are just a collection of people, we can break down all their actions by analyzing human behavior and motivation. I am sure you realize that businesses are greedy, we all know that they exist for the sole purpose of enriching the owners (including shareholders). To do this a business must provide customers with a good or service they value and are willing to pay for. If they cannot do this they fail, whether it's run by "Swiss Mittens" or anyone else. Now if a business is successful because it is doing a good job providing for its customers it has the added bonus of enriching them because they are getting something they value more than their money (labor) which they traded for. Businesses must rely on a symbiotic relationship with their customers. Unless of course government steps in... but this is just the basics.

Governments are greedy too, because once again they are made up of people and human nature doesn't change just because one is in government or business. We all want more for ourselves. The big difference is that governments are entrusted with being the major source of power in a country, we allow this in hopes it helps protect basic liberties and maintain a framework for society. Yet there have been hundreds of examples of governments running their nations into the ground throughout history. This is because like businesses, governments are as imperfect as the people who run them. People are simply far too ignorant to be able to control something as complex as the economy. Why I say this you ask? Well, its because the economy is just the immediate desires of the billions of people on the earth and what they want to buy. As people are all different they all value different things. A few people cannot control or predict this ever changing supply and demand. Trying to causes problems and always ends up hurting many people, quite like our current economic situation.

We need to be as skeptical of government as we are of businesses, even more so because of the power we allow it to have and the history of what they have done. I know some people (I include you in this based on my opinion of you from your posts) find it easy to view government as a protector and force to benefit everyone because the world is scary and believing this makes it easier to cope and deal with. Its not much different then believing there is a god watching over you and protecting you. Except there is no proof one way or the other that a god exists; yet there is an abundance of proof that throughout life one cannot rely on others, especially strangers to do whats best for them. Hell I bet many people here have family members they wouldn't trust, yet they blindly believe government will do whats best for them.... As long as its their favorite team in charge anyway. Insanity! Limit the power of government, empower yourself and others.

I realize cable companies are many times monopolies because of infrastructure restraints, my point was that as they have monopolies they tend to treat their customers like (*)(*)(*)(*). I think you would agree with me there. Well guess what, the government is a monopoly hence why its inefficient and treats its people like (*)(*)(*)(*) most of the time. Only difference is this one can take away your rights far easier than a cable company.

No (I do not have cable), but my sister has...she got sick of their lousy service, so she cancelled. Now has her TV and Internet service through the phone company...better service, faster internet connection, and cheaper.

No one believes the private sector is infallible and this could have easily happen at the USPS.

If this is the same thing that I saw on a different forum yesterday it's not an assault rifle. It's a battle rifle that fires a full size rifle cartridge on semi auto only.

In other words, much more powerful than the feared assault rifles.

I'm too lazy to read through the whole thread, and imagine that someone has probably pointed this out by now... but are we really going to harp on the private sector when our own government intentionally sent hundreds of assault type weapons across the border?
