Speaking of sedition, looks like some "Proud Boys" got their wish to be on equal terms with the "Oath Keepers".

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/proud-boys-charged-seditious-conspiracy-195243872.html

I don't know why they just don't join hands and come out (literally) as a new group. My working title would be "Patriotic United Dickheads", or PUDs....

No-one is defending those actions, and when they find those who committed those crimes they should be prosecuted

But to make the claim that these 2 things are in the same realm is ridiculous. One of them is a property loss, the other is the loss of democracy.

In the ultimate irony the right always glosses over that fact while literally wrapping themselves in an American flag and espousing their "patriotism" to anyone within earshot.

    Agreed
I've heard that double-talk before. Rampaging on city streets and assaulting, and attempted murder of police is a touch more than "property loss". As is destroying businesses and homes people have worked their entire lives to build.
    Nonsense.

Here's a non news flash.... the 2 guys who tracked down Nixon back in the 70's think T**** is more corrupt than Nixon...

Put that in the "No ****" file

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/woodward-bernstein-trumps-efforts-overturn-140612712.html

Bet they'll be watching the hearings.... Hell, Woodward and Bob Costa contributed mightily to this effort, as I recall...

So a couple of hyper partisans are making claims Trump is more corrupt based on their feelings and not an ounce of evidence? Not shocking lol. Meanwhile the J6 fiery but mostly peaceful protest of no consequence is misportrayes by these same hyper partisans who investigated Nixon? Lol. Reaching.

An article on the upcoming hearings, with an extremely funny sentence included

    SNIP
Trump is not expected at any of the hearings, but his words and actions will hang heavy over the proceedings as lawmakers look to place him at the center of the chaos. It seems highly plausible that he will find a way to rail against them that does not involve being under oath.

SNORT!! Do ya think?? I'm going to go out on a limb and say his very limited vocabulary will include a phrase that rhymes with Mitch Punt....

I wonder what he's going to be thinking, watching his sexy daughter tell America she couldn't get him to do his duty....

    Exactly.

the left completely ignores actual assaults on our democracy when it’s done by thier ill, while completely misrepresenting things in their favor.

from the blm riots with dozens dead, to antifa doing the same, to the j6 nothing fiery but mostly peaceful protest of no consequence. Nothing but lies.

    quite interesting tbh

    Like this idiot...

I dunno, Grapey, should we all line up and protest his conviction, because his grand jury was from Indiana???

Absolutely not, not even close lol. It’s simply just hate that motivates them, which is strange to watch from the perspective of patriotism, self respect, love of freedom and genuine human compassion,

I didn't really get the importance of this yesterday, but the head "Proud Boy" wasn't even at the Capitol for the insurrection.

    SNIP
Tarrio, the group’s top leader, wasn’t in Washington, D.C., when the riot erupted on Jan. 6, 2021, but authorities say he helped put into motion the violence that day.
    ENDSNIP

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the first person charged just for the planning, not the execution, of 1/6. That's a nice bridge to cross in the months to come....

Also, the man who was filming the the "Proud Boys" meeting with the "Oath Keepers" before the insurrection will be a prime time witness, along with his footage... That might be interesting...

Here's a story breaking today, directly tying the T**** campaign to the fake elector scheme in Georgia...

    SNIP
The email underscores the Trump campaign's role in creating false election documents as a way to supplant Joe Biden's win in Georgia. CNN previously reported that Trump campaign officials oversaw efforts to put forward illegitimate electors in seven swing states Trump lost.

"I must ask for your complete discretion in this process," Sinners wrote. "Your duties are imperative to ensure the end result -- a win in Georgia for President Trump -- but will be hampered unless we have complete secrecy and discretion."

In the email, Sinners also told Trump's electors to misdirect security guards when they arrived at the statehouse, and to tell the guards they were attending a meeting with two state senators, Brandon Beach and Burt Jones.

"Please, at no point should you mention anything to do with Presidential Electors or speak to media," Sinners wrote.

Gotta LOL at somebody named Sinners working for the T**** campaign....

really ? It’s “nonsense” that the right in this country is supporting overturning the free and fair election of 2020 ?

The J6 commission is going to be live on TV with their hearings and the right is so scared that Fox News isnt even going to show it. The J6 commission scares the crap out of the right, but sadly most on the right refuses the facts it has found and thinks its no big deal. But lets cut to the chase that there have been multiple surveys done that show that those same “patriots”, while literally wearing red-white-blue clothing and literally carrying flags to espouse their “patriotism” actually overwhelmingly support overturning the free and fair election of 2020 to install Donald Trump.

I dont know. Ask Kyle ;)

And he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a gun.
And YES, if he did something illegal he should be prosecuted and suffer consequences !!!

FTR, I have never supported a violent protest. Protesting is OK as long as it is not violent. I have a very clear record of that on this board

As do probably all of us....That we don't EQUATE the goals of Floyd protests turned violent vs an attempt to overthrow our government that included a violent act somehow makes us pro violent protests is complete horseshit....

There is no low that Trump won't go, I've said this many times and was stunned when it appeared he would be elected in 2016. The man has no bottom and demands 100% loyalty and fealty from his minions (sinners :)) with his cult of personality and corrupt means.

He must never be POTUS again or hold any public office.

I wish, but this country will never indict a president, or a former president. Nixon was as corrupt as they come and they had the evidence to prosecute him, but never did and never will.

LOL, not according to Woodward and Bernstein..... They're out now calling Nixon a general lightweight in the corruption department....

I'm not sure the "country" will indict a former president, but I feel some locality eventually will... It was a precedent shattering 4 years, why not go all the way??

I would be interesting, but there are so many roadblocks to doing that to a sitting or former president. The main roadblock in any of this is the legal status of a President and the coverage/leeway the office affords them to do what needs to be done.

For the country in the context of the US Constitution. If they can make a credible case in any court that there was zero corrupt intent on the part of the seditious SOB 45, then let his ****ing lawyers make and win the case. At the very least, it will deter many from following in his footsteps.

It all goes back to the "duties of the President" concept.... NOTHING around 1/6 or trying to overturn an election falls into that category.

It would certainly be problematic to arrest/indict a sitting POTUS, but he (or she) should be 100% fair game after leaving office, even for acts performed while POTUS...

    All IMHO....

Nixon was pardoned so there was no path to indict him.
