Is anti trans all Christianity?

I feel like a politically moderate person. I don't have many extreme views. My Christian friend recently invited me to church, and the preacher was quoting Hosea and talking about the dangers of reaping the whirlwind. He cautioned we shouldn't accept transgenderism. It's dangerous and it would bring the whirlwind of God upon us and that's why Israel fell. Israel tolerated too much sin.

The people at this church identify as Libertarians and Conservatives. If a person sincerely believes in limited government, how can they be preoccupied with transgenderism and what a private citizen does to their own body? If a person wants a sex change or be in a same-sex relationship with another consenting adult, why should I care or expect my Senator to care? I can't figure this out.

I really don't have a strong opinion on transgender politics other than I think adults should be free to do what they what. I realize people might not accept them, but I don't view them as horrible or unacceptable people. I just don't see the controversy but I think it's clear who is stoking the flames of outrage, Christian leaders.

 

Righties aren’t for smaller govt, they’re for less govt they don’t like. Like social programs, civil rights, voting rights…

Based on what the pastor was saying, I don’t think the church sees trans as gods children and fully acceptable as trans. My guess would be that most Christians don’t.

 

I remember when they said gay people were causing all the hurricanes and before then weed made black men rape white women.

They are in the business of selling fear and propaganda

It seems most churches I have been to are all like this which is unfortunate

 

I have been to some wonderful places of worship that actually do great community works and focus their teachings on becoming better people and serving others in the name of their belief.

They do seem to be getting more and more rare though.

 

Homosexuality and other forms of perversion are not talked about acceptably in the Bible.

Would you like them to go against their religion and pretend like these brave New world individuals deserve praise or something?

 

Is it a certain denomination or does it just depend on the church’s leaders?

 

Because at this point the agenda has gone beyond the simple issue of individual choice.

It's also going to be a huge mistake for many young people and mess up their lives, although I have proposed compromises:

What the society is seeing now is almost like some sort of "Trans evangelism".
I mean, many parts of society has become so supportive that it's now convincing impressionable and naive teens to make a choice that they would not otherwise have even considered. A lot of this seems to be more like a fad and a movement than any real actual inherent "orientation".

 

I don’t feel strongly about these issues, but I have personal tolerance and zero issues with LGBT having the same rights as me. I am not interested in forcing this church to marry a gay couple, but I don’t understand why I have to be less tolerate and fearful of LGBT to be a proper Christian at this church. I have no problems with gay people.

 

Who's "them" because no one can even keep track anymore of all the different Christian sects.

 

So we need nanny state government to protect us from messing up our lives now? Should the government step in and tell Billy to major in engineering instead of music so he doesn’t mess up his life and borrow money from his mommy and daddy most of his life?

 

And then of course there's the whole women feeling uncomfortable in women's spaces bit, and unfairness in women's sports competitions.

 

You are aware that the government just increased the legal age to purchase tobacco to 21?

I'll assume you support reversing that?

Or do your notions of individual freedom only extend to abortion and gender transitions?

How about 15 year old girls getting breast enhancement surgeries? (without the permission of their parents)

 

Perhaps find another church?

There are plenty of people in this world whose choices I don't agree with. And if I voice my disagreement this does not mean that I am intolerant hateful or bigoted.

They have the right to live their life and I have the right to voice my opinion.

The problem is they're not content to just live their life. They demand to enter women's sports, they demand to enter women's restrooms, some of them even demand laws making it a criminal offense not to pretend that they are the opposite sex.

When you step over the line like that and you expect others to capitulate you were going to find that there can be some resistance.

And for the record there are plenty of churches who are very proud of their inclusivity and they have abandoned the biblical principles of shunning perversion

 

You’re making a ton of unwarranted assumptions about me and I have a hunch that you’re the kind of person who likes conspiracy theories or at least non factual information

 

Do these minors go to Mexico?
In the US minors need a parent/guardian permission and a willing surgeon.

I think it’s a matter of who the church chooses to shun and label a pervert. It’s really not about following the Bible to the very word and equally applying it all of society’s members. If you wanted to be honest about it, most people in the modern era would be labeled a perverts and fornicators by the Bible’s standards.

 

Christian areas of the world are the most tolerant of trans people lol. And yet the most hated.

 

Tolerance and acceptance are two different things. As a fair society we're obligated to tolerate the alphabet people. We're under no obligation to accept their lifestyle.
