Some say the flag of my country should be changed because it is racist and islamophobic and is a great insult to Muslim immigrants. Here it is ...... What do YOU think we should do? Ps. The Jews of my country don't find the flag offensive in the least.
I have relatives who are Christians and Jews. What flag should I find offensive? Do I get to chose or must I ask you first?
It's a symbol of hate. You know it and I know it. You can go into your regionalism and history bs all you want. The whole idea of the Confederacy was supporting slavery and slavery had very little to do with real labor and it very seldom did throughout history. The reason for slavery was so that the poor whites would have somebody they could feel superior to and a pool of ready concubines. The Planters admitted this, most of them complaining that the Northern Capitalists had a much easier time getting work out of their "wage slaves" and more than one saying that the day of the automatic cotton picker, like the McCormick Reaper, was soon going to make their lives so much easier.
I heard a guy once poll twelve people on what the words to Prince's song Purple Rain was all about. Twelve people had twelve views as to what the lyrics meant. I do not see a symbol of hate when I look at a Confederate flag. Plenty of people that did not own slaves fought under that flag without considering race one way or another. People look at the American flag and declare it means acceptance of virtually anything from socialists to pedophiles and from nazis to terrorists. I look at it and see something totally different. Contrary to popular belief, the Confederate flag never served as the banner for the Confederate states. But, honesty can't play a part in this narrative. Right? If we were being honest, we'd examine these allegations of "white supremacy" (terminology changes as we saw when people tried to define racism) and expose them for what they really are. That cannot happen in a society that has accepted Newspeak.
Your flag is pleasing to the eye, makes me think of the mountaineers and fighting men on ski's who have not bent over the centuries. It's just insurrectionists who want to gin up discord, mob violence, insurrection, and anarchy. That flag racist? That is complete bullshat and whoever immigrated to Sweden and don't like it or anything else about your country, boot their ar$e out. Do not change the national flag or what it represents.
Thank you. Actually, it is our own PC ******* who actually believe their actions will thwart "discord, mob violence, insurrection, and anarchy." The most horrendous experience in their personal lives is trying to open a can of beans without a can-opener. Yes, I agree but the reality of the matter is nothing like that at all. My government is asking each and every one of to pull down our skivvies and bend over, offering ourselves to the .... uhhh ..... you know ...... those who are newly arrived. Come to my country and run for prime minister. You already have my vote!
Oh look, another one who gets to decide for everyone else what a symbol means ^ Is the US flag a symbol of genocide and conquest? Let me guess..."different"...right?
You are entitled to your opinion. But you don't get to make up facts. It celebrates the slave era of the South, which was an apartheid. Face it, the pretense wore out before you were born.
I bolded the ironic part, see it? So...Is the US flag a symbol of genocide and conquest? Let me guess..."different"...right?
So which of those were Bo and Luke Duke doing? Celebrating slavery or engaging in historical revisionism?
I disagree. I think it symbolizes secession in general, and freedom in particular. It represents the marginalized and outcasts from yonder to now. It is flown beneath the stars and stripes in their honor and remembrance that we are a united nation in spite our differences. Like it or not, the Confederate flag is an American flag, nearer to individualism than to the collective. And I am convinced that there is far greater hate, bigotry and racism among its detractors than among those who view or fly it fondly. Similarly, I believe that there exists among its detractors, an equal and palpable displeasure for the stars and stripes as well. As such, imo, the attack on the Confederate flag is a prelude to an attack on the stars and stripes and on America. To dismiss or burn the American flag in malice is to burn your own soul and page from the book of life as it were, and become a wanderer, detached, a slave to base instincts, unencumbered by principle, and therefore untrustworthy in any human endeavor beyond self. It is to be hog minded.
Whatever, keep dodging the question. Should you be brave enough to tackle it, you must spin a double standard.
I couldn't qualify, am not of high office timbre, and it wouldn't be right for a foreigner to hold office in your country or enter it illegally, but I can open a can of beans very quickly without a can opener and know just where to set it in the fire.
It's a different topic. Which means you've given up... However, foreign affairs is an interest of mine, and if you want to start a thread about that, I will participate. And thank you for the implicit admission of defeat.
In 2050, a third of Sweden may be Muslim. Don't you think they may tired by then of living under a flag of oppression, and want to change it to something more Islam friendly?
So what. Either they were born under that flag or entered Sweden under that flag. The flag above, which I've only seen flying at churches, shouldn't be adapted as the national flag.
Says you. I don't see people swooning with nostalgic slave-owning ecstasy in the presence of that flag. Do you? My suggestion is that you avert your eyes if the flag causes you palpitations of white supremacy at the sight of it. Oh! You do have a glimmer of understanding after all and you (unbeknownst to your good self) realize that any pretense (sp) might have worn off? Excellent! If you act quickly you might be able to edit your post and change it from, "It celebrates the slave era of the South" to "It celebrated the slave era of the South."
I knew you would not touch it with a ten ft pole. How you get "foreign affairs" from a question about the US flag is a mystery only you can fathom. Now just declare "victory" again and know you cant answer.
