There is no choice. Education is a legal requirement in the US. Public, private, home but a child will be schooled. A parent who fails to ensure their child is schooled is breaking the law.

I do not know your state laws on public schools. I know kids here in CA can be expelled from public schools.

I highly doubt that DeLa Salle high school attracts kids who then get kicked out. The school is a super prize school. Parents would kill to get their kids to go there. I can't think of any other public school in Concord that has it like that.

No child in California can be denied a public education. If expelled they are always offered an alternative education plan

Parents still violate the law. I recall when I was in the Army one soldier from Montana i think it was. Anyway I did not know at first he could not read. I asked him why not. He said he had never attended school. He never sounded so uneducated but he said he simply never had gone to school. We had to read his General orders to him and help him memorize them. A nice kid but sadly never spent a day in school.

Gee and to think my own daughter took both of her sons and she educated both of them. And of course costs were incurred. State gave her computers and books. State paid for tests.

The issue is not can you get educated, it is whether it is free. But the most I admit to is not free, but lower cost than full cost. Ca collects funds from a large number of sources that fund schools. But nobody says they are free.

He does not understand the topic. Wonder if he thinks the military is also handed to us for free?

Free at point of service. They can not charge the child or family directly

So what? I do not understand that as a salient point.

I want to explain to you CA education is not done for free. Millions of dollars pay teachers and schools. Do you believe they work for free?

Take it up with scotus. Answer this question.

Are they lying when they say it is free?

They are presidential proposals that congress absolutely does listen to.

Remember that all these programs are in the executive branch.

I'm not all that interested in chasing down specific changes. It should be enough to show that these programs are under constant analysis and available for revision.

Posters who say schooling is cost free are lying.

Such posters appear to have never looked closely at the laws on taxes.

Well maybe it "should be enough" but that is not what the earlier conversation was about. Thank you for playing.

Look, this is standard analysis stuff.

I would expect to be able to find outliers in both directions.

Having you pick one example you like is NOT an analysis.

You have totally lost the point of the conversation. If you are really interested go back and reread the posts Renee and I were exchanging. It started somewhere around #2950.

Thanks for the input. As I mentioned in the post you quoted, I have set myself up with an excellent plan. I already have a supplemental plan in place, for when I am forced to move to Medicare at 65. My wife is already on Medicare and because of our supplemental plan she pays nothing but the $135 per month from her SS. I have great concerns that if the nation moves to Medicare For All it will cost me more. No one has been able to convince me it won't.

    You presented it as evidence.

I'm saying it isn't worth anything as evidence for the reasons I stated.
