As a liberal agnostic, I think all religions suck equally.

But I think all sucky religions should be treated equally by the government. I dont see Islam as better or worse than Christianity. I think they both utterly suck.

I never said that. But you prove my point, people read into it what they want. There are a lot of so called Christians, but if you are truly a Christian, you'll try and follow the word of Christ. I think people are better at it today than they were many years ago, mostly because they are better educated. Not to say Christians are perfect, far from it. But if sorry for their actions, they are forgiven.

 

Oooo, I love this thread, so many assumptions. The governments rarely, if ever, have ever embraced true christian ideals. Taking care of your neighbors, feeding the poor, etc. The majority of human history governments, even those purportedly headed by a religious organization have fixated on maintaining power first and everything else second.

Saying I prove your point doesn’t make it true. Not reading into anything. I’m going off of facts. Religion has played a role in millions of deaths.
The fact that if they are sorry they are forgiven should tip off anyone with a thinking brain what a crock christianity is. I remember those days of going to confession when I was in middle school thinking what a joke it was.

It’s not a myth that Republicans/conservative who are religious are against gay marriage due to their religious beliefs. I never said people who aren’t religious can’t also be against gay marriage. They just use a different excuse for their bigotry.
Oh and...I ain’t progressive. I simply believe people should have the choice to do whatever the fcuk they want provided they aren’t hurting anyone or breaking any laws. Who is anyone to say someone else shouldn’t be able to marry their partner.
