There's no contradiction at all. I stated that Islam opposes progressives goals - but that some progressives defend Islam, anyway. Apparently something practiced by mainly non-white, non-Western minorities is to be defended, even if it is vehemently opposed to progressivism.

We are not air striking them into oblivion. In fact, there's no sign of them losing in numbers, yet more growing. If we wanted to air strike them into oblivion, we'd use the carpet bombs that really do the trick. Not precision strikes aimed at senior leaders. Obama has not learned from the past.

 

Depends on the faction of Islam. Most are intolerant to other forms of spirituality or the lack of it, but some are more violent than others.

The Muslim Almohads ran their own inquisition in Spain centuries before the Catholics followed their example. It's no accident that Jews like Maimonides were vacating the mythical ecumenical heaven of al-Andalus in the 12th Century. The chronicles are out there (Abraham Ibn Daud, Judah ibn 'Aqnin, et al).

Of course, our Leftist friends aren't concerned with such inconvenient historical facts, like the centuries of jihad that preceded the Crusades (another thing they are fond of overlooking)...

They seem blissfully unaware that Muslims had taken over nearly 2/3rds of Christendom during the hundreds of years leading up to the first Crusade. The way they tell the story, Muslims were just minding their own business, peacefully existing in Muslim lands, when the big bad Christian army went to war with them.

Never underestimate their ability or desire to make apologies for anything non-white, non-Christian, and non-Western.

 

The argument they make is always "well Christianity affects me more, and that's the reason I don't oppose Islam", but do you really think they would be saying anything if they suddenly lived in an Islamic society? Do you think they are brave enough to oppose Muslims, the way they opposed Christians? I don't think so. Muslims fight back. That's an important difference. I'd guess most progressives would convert to Islam in order to save their own lives, rather than fight for whatever principles they purport to have at the moment.

 

The fact they are growing is imperiling all of us. The fact a Muslim can get easily indoctrinated into their belief is not only jeopardizing the Muslim world it is totally endangering all human societies since Muslims are in their great numbers and we cannot stop this happening
