Christianity doesn't spread their religion by fighting and forcing people to remain Christians by threat of death. Islam does.

Our war policy in the ME has been guided in part by a strong anti-Muslim movement.

It would be hard to defend America against charges of having carried out religious war.

Even on this thread, people suggest that our wars against Islam are justified on religious grounds.

You still aren't listening. ISLAM IS NOT PEACEFUL. Some of its adherents may be peaceful, but as a religion, ISLAM IS INHERENTLY VIOLENT. Mohammed preached violence against nonbelievers. He scorned those who would not fight and promised great rewards to those who died fighting for Islam. Christ preached peace, turn the other cheek, etc. Christianity at its core is peaceful. Some of its adherents may be warlike, but as a religion, Christianity is inherently peaceful. The mainstream interpretation of Islam is violent. It's why there were 1,984 terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims last year and what, six carried out by Christians? The difference is stark and only a fool can fail to see it.

Bush's crusade wasn't to spread the gospel. The war in Vietnam had nothing to do with imperialism and everything to do with defeating the spread of communism. We succeeded in Korea, failed in Vietnam. And the penalty for our failure wasn't paid for by us.

"The VCP also implemented a so-called “Re-education” program which captured and imprisoned former military officers and government workers from the former regime of South Vietnam and even its supporters, civil servants, capitalists, priests as well. This program was seen as both a means of revenge as well as political repression and indoctrination."
"An estimated 165,000 prisoners died in those re-education camps."
"It is estimated that between 20,000 and 155,000 Vietnamese died performing hard labor in these “New Economic Zones”."
"An estimated of 200,000-400,000 boat people out of around 2 millions that fled died at sea. There were also a lot of untold miseries, maltreatment, murders and rapes committed by pirates at sea as well as the guards inside the camps."

    https://thevietnamwar.info/what-happened-after-the-vietnam-war/

The next time you want to grouse about American imperialism, you might want to give a thought to all those thousands of people who will die without our willingness to involve ourselves in bloody conflicts that offer us nothing in return.

Yes, Muhammed was in a war in ancient times. Christian Crusaders did the same - several times.

You want to tell Islam what their religion is.

I don't accept that as a methodology. You need to ASK them what their religion is. And, the vast majority of Islam is a mainstream that is not extremist nor interested in religious war.

Your idea of counting events is just plain ludicrous. There are wars going on right now. And, yes, radicals are carrying out terrorist acts.

The thing is, most Muslims are fighting against these terrorists. After all, the vast majority of victims are Muslims.

Christians in Ireland resorted to terrorism for MANY YEARS.

I think you made up your mind about Islam based on what IS a small number of lethal extremist criminals before actually noticing what Muslims believe.

Moses was a con man and an extortionist. If he was a prophet of God you can eat ice cream on the Sun. And if the God character has such crooks as his prophets I don't want him to be my God.

You have to recognize that as a religious difference.

Not all the world's religions are going to accept your specific beliefs.

In fact, there is a very large collection of Christian divisions that don't agree on points of religion. You don't even have to go outside of your own religion to see that.

I understand that. However, there is only one God, and He isn't schizophrenic.

There is no effective decision making methodology for resolving even just the differences between the 3.5 or 4 billion who follow some form of the Abrahamic faiths.

They all claim to adhere to the one true religion!

And, the rest of the world population doesn't agree with any of them!

I think we have to be OK with that.

There is only one Abrahamic faith. The Almighty God chose Abraham to bring the Savior of the world. No, I'm not okay with the belief that Islam is an Abrahamic faith. I believe the Scriptures are the only Word of God. Islam is a lie, and I'm okay believing that.

Actually I knew nothing about Islam before 9/11, but after 9/11, I decided I needed to educate myself, so one night I downloaded a copy of the Koran and read it from beginning to end. Took about five hours. I saw the appeal but I also saw how dangerous and destructive it was. I followed that up with reading several Western experts on Islam (not amateurs like politicians and actors) and found that it's just as dangerous as I gathered from reading the Koran. I followed that up by reading about the history of Islam and the West and discovered that unlike most of the history taught today, Islam was overwhelmingly the aggressor, not the West, and it took 300 years before the West woke up and started to respond to Islam's threat. It took 700 years for Spain to finally kick the last of the Muslims out in 1492 and reclaim the Iberian peninsula for Westerners. Byzantium still hasn't been reclaimed from the Turks, with the biggest church in Christendom, the Hagia Sophia, still in Muslim hands. I don't give a **** about the Muslims fighting Muslims, what I care about is the danger the Muslims pose to the West. And they do. Your ignoring it doesn't change it.

Christianity has made the world a better place. The world would be even much better without Islam.

Well, I'm certainly not here to argue your religious belief! I'm fine with that, though I wouldn't be fine with it turning violent, for example.

My concern has more to do with the fact that we are all humans, all have different beliefs and all have to live together on this shrinking planet, because there is nowhere else to go.

We all need to see that as an important objective even when we don't agree on stuff as important as religion.

You certainly can find all sorts of anti-Muslim rhetoric to read. There are lots of people whose knowledge of Islam comes from ISIS!!

If you want to learn about Islam today you have to do a LOT better than that.

BTW, there have been conquests by all groups throughout the region from the Mediterranean to India. Suggesting that one of them is worse than others of them is absolutely and totally ridiculous.

Islam is the violent religion. Jesus was a man of love and peace. Mohammed, um not so much.

I don't accept you as an expert on mainstream Islam of today.

And, I know it is trivially easy to find web sites that project Islam as defined by ISIS - which is a tiny group of criminals that Islam despises and fights against.

No it isn't. Some groups are far worse than others. Tell me, which would you rather do, preach the gospel on a street corner in a Muslim neighborhood or a Hindu neighborhood? Or take your pick of a Hindu neighborhood or a Buddhist neighborhood? You're a lot safer as a Christian in a Hindu neighborhood than you are in a Muslim one, and safer still in a Buddhist neighborhood. Why? Because Hinduism is more peaceful and tolerant than Islam and Buddhism is more peaceful and tolerant still.

It's odd, but if you read some Western experts on Islam, they all say the same thing, Islam is bad, and the more they know about Islam, the more negative they are about it. Even those who work closely with Muslims in Western countries say that the culture is very different and incompatible with the West. The only people who say otherwise are those like you who know nothing about it, and Renee, who acts as a Muslim apologist.

I look to government for that, not religion.

The US has used economic force and violence with calamitous results in numerous places post WWII - Vietnam, South and Central America, Africa (both north and south of the Sahara), throughout the ME, Pakistan and Afghanistan (both of which are arguably Asian, not ME).

Today, we no longer stand for the rule of law, equal representation, or even property ownership for residents of other countries. We laud dictatorships.

We won't have a positive impact while we stand for nothing.

What the hell is "economic force and violence"? You mean sanctions?

Pakistan and Afghanistan have a mix of races and ethnicities, but are primarily Caucasoid, so it's fair to label them Middle Eastern rather than Asian. Even going as far as India, the northern half of the country is primarily Caucasoid while the southern half is primarily Mongoloid, so even India is hard to describe as an Asian country even though geographically it's in the heart of the continent.

It's why he made the cover of Military History Quarterly.

    Islam is a retarding influence.
