‘Umar b. ‘Abd Al-‘Azîz once wrote to Al-Hasan Al-Basrî to get a brief exhortation عظة from him, so Al-Hasan wrote back ,

“The dunyâ/earthy life distracts and preoccupies the heart and body,
but al-zuhd (asceticism, not giving importance to worldly things) gives rest to the heart and body.
Verily, Allâh will ask us about the halâl things we enjoyed, so what about the harâm
!”

Al-Bayhaqî, Al-Zuhd Al-Kabîr, article 26.

bismillahirraḥmanirraḥim

by time,
indeed, mankind is in loss,
except for those who have believed
and done righteous deeds
and advised each other to truth
and advised each other to patience.

Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted.
Say, "Do you indeed disbelieve in He who created the earth in two days and attribute to Him equals? That is the Lord of the worlds."
And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance in four days without distinction - for [the information] of those who ask.
Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They said, "We have come willingly."
And He completed them as seven heavens within two days and inspired in each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and as protection. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
But if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt [that struck] 'Aad and Thamud.
[That occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Worship not except Allah ." They said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers."

It was just some people, who happened to be Christians ;) but people like al-Qaida are Muslims who happen to be people ;)

Lovely double standard with some people.

But this thread is about the greatness of Islam, Allah, His universe and His Prophets, and the Ummah... not the ignorants of the world. I just couldn't help myself with that one person lol.

Honest question:

As Christians we have Jesus Christ as the perfect Christian to look up to.

Who is the perfect Muslim role model and why?

O you who have believed, be persistently l standing firm for Allah , witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.

Jesus Christ was not and is not a man. He is God incarnated in man's flesh to bear the sins of the world on his shoulders, dying on the cross for all of us. He loves us unconditionally and is capable of softening the hardest of hearts.

He was indeed a man. To Christians he was and is both man and the Son of God. To Coptic Christians he was and is solely divine. I was raised a Christian so please don't lecture me on Christianity.

From Sahih Muslim:

“People of Paradise are three: (1) a leader who is generous, spends in charity and is guided to the right course; (2) a man who is compassionate, kind to every relative and every Muslim and (3) a poor person who is virtuous and has dependants.”

He assumed the position as a man, yes. But The Holy Bible clearly states that Jesus Christ is God. Period. That is not the description of a mere man.

Jesus was a just a philosopher, possibly a religious one, who was executed for his anti-authoritarian views. I cant see why he would be the son of God. Most likely it appears the Bible was built upon later interpretation and story telling. Its interesting how exaggerated his 'healing' is in the text. When Jesus of Nazareth was alive there were plenty of other miracle workers - some are even disputed to be the true Jesus, ie that Jesus was not really the person Christians believe him to be.

But what I find interesting is the views of the Bible, which are often highly contradictory, ahistorical and just plain laughable.
An example of each is:
1. Jesus said to love one another and turn the other cheek, yet apparently condoned parents executing disobedient children.
2. The Bible says Jesus' virgin mother (another idea not unique to Christian theology) and her partner Joseph traveled to Bethlehem for a Census, yet no such Census was conducted. and
3. When Jesus was killed the tombs of locals 'broke open' and the dead wandered the earth! Clearly even resurrection isn't to unique!

Yet these laughable flaws in the Bible, when shown to ardent Christians is responded to with 'oh well you just don't beleive', to which one can only say 'yes, unfortunately for you, I cannot accept blatant bs such as this, yet you can.'
