It appears that Trump has been having litigation battles most of his adult life

I put the question to Copilot (note that there are hotlinks and annotations in the text):

Question: Has there been any significant periods of time in the last 40 years where Trump was not in litigation about something?

    Copilot responds:

Donald Trump has been involved in a staggering number of lawsuits throughout his life. From the 1970s until he was elected president in 2016, he and his businesses were embroiled in over 4,000 legal cases in United States federal and state courts1. Let’s delve into this fascinating history:

    1. Plaintiff in Chief: A Portrait of Donald Trump in 3,500 Lawsuits: [book]
      • Former federal prosecutor and author James D. Zirin meticulously documented Trump’s legal disputes in his book, Plaintiff in Chief. Zirin’s research spans more than three years and examines illustrative cases that reveal Trump’s legal maneuvering.
      • Trump learned much of his legal strategy from his mentor, the notorious lawyer Roy Cohn. He adopted Cohn’s scorched-earth approach, viewing litigation as a means to achieve control, silence opponents, and make points. Zirin aptly describes Trump as a “plaintiff in chief” who sued at the drop of a hat2.
      • Zirin argues that Trump’s chronic disregard for the law would be problematic in a businessman, but as the president of the United States, it is nothing less than terrifying.
    2. Themes of Trump’s Legal Cases:
    3. Key Strategies for Surviving Legal Trouble:
In summary, Trump’s litigious history spans decades, and he has consistently found himself in legal battles. Whether as a businessman or as the president, his legal entanglements have been a defining aspect of his life

    * * * * * *

It appears that Trump has been in court for most of his adult life.

Now think about this, what does it say about the man?

The man has been a torrent of legal battles, far more than others in his station, and the point is it's abnormal, as if he revels in it. So, it beckons the question:

Is this the kind of man we want as Commander In Chief, especially now that the proverbial crows are coming home to roost, and now he is wallowing in criminal courts?

If you are waffling on your choice for president, give it some thought.

The main architect of Trumps legal strategy was one Roy Cohn - an evil piece of ***** if ever there was one

They all would have had at least a couple but over 4,000? Just look at Trumps current cases - they include some suing back and forth over “Truth Social” to the point that whatever he mad from it has long gone to lawsuits

Facebook, alone has been sued 66 times since 2004. That doesn't even count suits against Zuckerberg, personally. Does that make Zuckerberg evil?

66 in 18 years? Trump has been in business for what, 40?

You know damn well that the number is irrelevant. If Trump had been sued once in 40 years, you be wetting yourselves.

You just made my point for me! His lawsuit rate is an order of magnitude higher than others. A large number were also initiated by him

The trials are unfair. I don't expect you to understand that since you have no clue how our system works.

Ok show how he has been treated “unfairly” because I have listed to a lot of legal analysts talking about this and seems Trump should be cooling his heels in jail by now

If Trump were elected, it's quite possible he would STILL be spending more time in court than in the White House. Given his criminal trials, there is just not enough time in the calendar for all his civil trials. So even if DOJ policy wouldn't allow them to prosecute him criminally, state and civil courts would still require most of his wake time.

Despite already knowing the answer via common sense, I asked Copilot if litigation is common in real estate developing, and this was its answer...

"Yes, litigation is quite common in the realm of real estate development. The process of developing real estate involves numerous legal considerations and potential disputes that can arise at various stages of a project. These can include issues related to entitlements, environmental regulations, construction disputes, zoning violations, boundary disputes, and contractual disagreements12345.

Real estate developers must navigate a complex landscape of municipal, state, and federal laws, which can often lead to legal challenges. For example, the Supreme Court has weighed in on interpretations of environmental regulations affecting real estate developments, such as the Clean Water Act1. Every step through the process, from acquiring land to completing construction, carries the potential for disputes that may result in litigation1.

Understanding these risks and being prepared to address them through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation is an essential part of the real estate development business. It’s advisable for those involved in real estate development to be knowledgeable about these issues and to work with legal professionals to mitigate risks and navigate any disputes that arise"

He has been in the business of major real estate development for over 50 years. You have no way of knowing if 4,000 is a lot, little, or just as would be expected. Real estate development is probably one of the most litigious industry's in existence. All of this pearl-clutching over a contextless number is just silly.

Ok, the Documents case: Trump did nothing different than Biden, Clinton and Pence. But, those three were never charged.

The Hush Money case: the statute of limitations has expired on the misdemeanor charges and he was never charged, much less convicted of violating campaign finance laws.

The New York civil trial: Trump didn't do anything that anyone else has done in the same scenario and, no one was defrauded. Hence, no fraud.

The "legal analysts" you refer to are partisan idiots.

But most of his cases are not related to real estate and if this were true he would have to have hired the most incompetent lawyers in the world.

Trump learnt the strategy of sue then delay until you win strategy from Roy Cohn https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/09/19/roy-cohn-donald-trump-documentary-228144/
