There is where either you have decided to be political anyway, or your political belief has distorted your analysis. I don't see any evidence that Obama is a coward, but if he were, the Pentagon and Congress would just take control. It's OK if you are being political, but that would take a different conversation.

Part of the reduction in military activity has been a budget matter. The wealthy, and others, want huge future tax reductions, and that can only happen by shrinking the military.

The other part has been a shift of emphasis to high tech military hardware, such as drones and so forth, and part of the shift has been towards cyber-war. Remember not long ago when America created a computer worm which shut down the Iranian enrichment centrifuges.

Some people are arguing that the high tech weapons make it impossible for any nation to win a war with the United States. Other people think that high tech weapons are so expensive that America would quickly run out of them in a major war. I will leave this to your judgment.

Notice that all that has almost nothing to do with Obama.

    Taxcutter says:
That isn't where the money is today. That would have been true in Ike's day but today the defense budget (including operations in Afghanistan) constitute only 9% of federal outlay. 70% of federal outlay goes to transfer payments. If the goal were tax cuts for the rich ofr anybody else, you really have to do as Willie Sutton did and go where the money is - in short: cut the entitlements and free stuff.

Congress is divided and has little precedent for overruling a President on foreign affairs and the armed forces have a tradition of obedience to the civilian government that goes back to Washington. It's one thing plebes learn at West Point, Annapolis, and Colorado Springs learn. If the flag officers even attempted a military coup, the colonels and NCOs would mutiny.

Nope. If Hussein Obama decides to sell out an ally, they are sold out.

I wonder if any communication between Chinese and Japanese ships/boats is done in Engrish. I learned recently that Arabs and Israelis communicate in English more often than their native languages since more people from both sides learn English.

English is the agreed common language of international aviation even if in practice it is fractured to the point of being barely recognizable as English.

It did not go over my head, I recognize racism when I see it just fine.

Are your grandsons in the military?

If not, then it does not apply to you. If they are, then they are adults and fully capable of making up their own minds.

Show me where exactly in that entry it says anything about racism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engrish

It is a slang term using to describe English spoken or written by Asians. You really need to get off you pontificating high horse there. Let me guess you are the one that whined about Avril Lavigne's video being racist even though it was made in Japan, with Japanese crew and the video was directed by a Japanese director. Or wait I bet you said that the last Star Wars movies were racist because you thought the actor that played Boba Fett was Mexican and his clones were bred to be compliant with orders......of course the actor is actually a Pacific Islander.

People like you are what is wrong with the world you whine and whine and whine away about every possibly conceived slight. I imagine that you can't watch a lot of TV shows or movies hell anything involving a parody is off limits to you because ethnic stereotype comedy is all over the place.

Edit: On second thought I decided to link to my official apology and and a small present for you. Go ahead click on the link. http://www.funnyordie.com/lists/71bd760bbe/31-brilliant-examples-of-engrish-fails#

Actually, I have quite a sense of humor, and working in Chinatown (in addition to having lived for over a year in Japan) it is rather hard to avoid seeing that. I pass by one sign every day where they advertise selling "Peppered Carb", with the picture of a crab. I chuckle every time I see it. And next door there is the picture of a Holstein cow, with the claim they sell "Angus Beef" which also makes me laugh. To me that is like posting a sign that they sell "fresh tuna", below the picture of a goldfish.

But there is also something known as "appropriateness".

So because this is "serious" thread no one is allowed to interject humor?

As a matter of fact, I do have a grandson in the Army. Please don't be so presumptuous as to propose it is none of my business when we get involved in useless wars.

Didn't read the thread, but apparently I slept through 'WW 3'. Who won?
