Rucker, I really don't want to get into a gun debate as that has been thrashesd to death many times. All I can say is ~ 'Houston, we have a problem.' They fixed it in Australia.
If you do not wish to get into a gun debate, perhaps you shouldn't be posting on a gun debate forum. Again you continue with the post hoc fallacy regarding Australia. You seem to fail to understand that what they did in Australia would be unconstitutional, ineffective and unenforceable here in the US.
There isn't. If you disagree, feel free to show the necessary relationship between cause and effect. Aussie gun laws do nothing to prevent another mass shooting in Australia.
In the 22 years prior to Port Arthur there was but a single mass homicide arson. Since Port Arthur Australia has suffered three of them. Did the NFA 1996 has a direct connection on the tripling of arson mass murders in Australia? Did the laws in France banning civilian ownership of machine guns in military calibers have a direct connection to the Charlie Hebdo and Paris night club shootings?
Sure ~ on Monday Harry shot a pigeon with his gun. I took his gun from him. He did not shoot any pigeons on Tuesday.
What happened in Australia was on Monday Harry shot a pigeon. I took his gun from him, but not from everyone. On Tuesday, no one shot a pigeon. The capability for mass shootings still exists in Australia. The capability still exists in New Zealand. NZ didn't confiscate any guns, and no mass shootings with semiautomatic rifles since 1990. To what do you attribute their success, since you can't point at a semi-successful ban?
He's in all gun-related threads, advocating AGAINST firearms. I bet my Dell his daddy was an Antifar and sonny's just continuing the legacy.
Dude, I gave you the evidence on the other forum. If you want evidence, I've listed sources in a thread in response to you with no rubuttal on your part.
Mass shootings in Australia was/is so low that it's practically insufficient to say with any definition backing that the buy back stopped the shootings. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, the Port Arthur incident is a one off event. There was no mass shootings of it's kind before the ban.
Seems I am going to be drawn into this. Where there are fewer guns there are fewer gun related homicides. Don't take my word for it. Link.
Sorry, there were many. The victim count might not have been as high as Pt Arthur but still there were mass slaughter events involving guns.
and there still are some our number of legally owned semi auto rifles has sky rocketed since the idiotic clinton attempts to ban such firearms. our rate of gunshot murders has declined.
1. Gun course. Shoot a static target with one mag. Makarov Russian pistol. Nobody gets refused on the exam. It's called corruption. 2. Written test. Self-defense questions. When not to kill, when to kill, safely operate a pistol, etc. Everyone passes even if he fails. It's called corruption. 3. You get a small permit after you go through these two. 4. Go to the courthouse, for $5 get a note that you have not been convicted of a felony. 5. Go to the Special Investigations PD, one in town. Get a note for $5 that there's no current investigations against you. 6. Go to a psychiatrist. I literally stayed there for 5 mins. She was super hot and she only asked me if I'm single. We giggled a bit, I complimented her blond hair, took her phone number and that was it. It's basically a huge joke. Nobody cares about your psychiatric evaluation. 7. That's the most difficult step. All until now is done in a week. Last and final step is go to the Local PD, fill in a blank, put your names and etc. there. Tell why do you need the gun. There's literally a single row. "Why do you need the gun for?" Many people get refused on that. Then you can't apply again. You go to court, and there you lose, obviously. It's corruption. You pay and you shall get. You don't and you shall not. I knew the guys, the POs, bought them a cheap whiskey for $10 and two chocolates and two packs of Marlboros and I got my license the next week. They send some POs to inspect if you have a gun safe attached to a solid surface in your home. It's a formality. Guy came, he didn't check anything. Did not care at all. Then you can't own more than 50 rounds of ammo. On paper. But you can just go on the shooting range, and get how much you want. You can get x500 10mm, x500 .45 ACP, etc. Just don't get caught carrying them all. If get caught, whiskeys. Chocolates too. No carbines and shotguns for self-defense. Only pistols and revolvers. Which is undoubtedly - very g*y. That's in general. License renewal every 5 years. Can't carry into bars and restaurants but I always do. No JHPs allowed. Only FMJs. Which is the next absurd thing. But it's better than nothing. Whole Europe is totally c*cked. Here at least I can put a Mozambique drill in the crock-pot that's entering my home. Or trying to hit me in the face with a baseball bat. Try and stab me here like in Germany, France, England, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Romania, or whatever and you shall get a 9x19 Parabellum to the face.
Since you're too lazy to log in the other forum, I pulled up the links that you have yet to address. https://www.nationalreview.com/2015/10/australia-gun-control-obama-america/ https://medium.com/@Nick.Stein/scie...eness-of-australias-1996-gun-ban-a380dc6ddd7e http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/Australia/New-Zealand/Crime
@Maccabee Also no knife restrictions. I carry a f**ken machete. I carry as an EDC the Cold Steel Rajah II. Carry that in the US and you'll get locked up probably. SABRE pepper spray and TASERS also allowed for civilian usage. No permits, no restrictions on those. SABRE I mean the LEO version, not some cr*p. I have the Crossfire Gel, Foam, and the Stream. Aerosol is useless. TASER I don't need. Cartridges are too expensive. SABERs are banned in the US for civilians from what I know. There's no full happiness, usually.
