Some want to invent history in order to scam others. Everyone knows that America wasn't established until 1776. Up until then it was Europeans who ran the show.

yes southern democrats who would split from the main party as well AND they were conservatives as well, and i have no idea why one would think progressives were in favor of slavery....except maybe dinesh desouzas ideas ? lol...you are also aware that the progressive movement in america was 1890-1930 with the republicans such as teddy Roosevelt being a champion, the political partys have changed and fliped over the years, but it was always conservatives that supported slavery, no matter which party they were in

I don't have any trouble celebrating June 19 (it it certainly magnitudes better than Cinco de Mayo) though it doesn't deserve to be an official national holiday. (I don't think MLK birthday deserves that either, especially at the expense of Washington and Lincoln, but that thinking is extremely politically incorrect and can get one in a lot of trouble like losing the Super Bowl IIRC.) I had to double check and look up the other dates. Neither should be a holiday, but Sept 17, 1787 needs to be driven home in every secondary history or government class.
