I'm aware that there are some differences between the left and the right but I have never seen so much hostility between these two groups until I started reading some of these topics and became more familiar with US politics.

Is it that bad in America where the left and right cannot seem to agree on most issues? I don't classify myself as either left or right, but I tend to notice the right misinterpret what the left say and just use every opportunity to attack them, even if it is absurd. I rarely see the left behave that way.

So how come the hostility between these two groups is so strong in America? Is it a language issue? Are they not understanding each other? Is it religion? I noticed the right wing are usually religious and follow Christianity.

Keep in mind I'm not trying to generalise. I'm certain there are reasonable folks from both ends of the political spectrum.

    Pretty much this.

Look at how the right has handled these cops death. There are now dozens of threads stating that anyone left of center hates cops and danced in glee at the recent tragedy. This phenomenon is conflated on ever single issue. How can there be room for rational debate with such utter (*)(*)(*)(*)ing nonsense?

What's sad is how there's virtually no discussion of anything important 'cause everything's bogged down in a bunch of literally idiotic nonsense. There's real stuff happening in the world but very few people in America are talking about it because the people that think of themselves as being interested and involved in politics are too busy hashing out their stupid superstitions.

Why do you think some elements of the right tries to use every opportunity to attack the left? Nothing good comes out of it.

Sometimes this can have a huge impact. Obama use of drone strikes increased in order to appear more tough to the right because the right were claiming that Obama was weak. Obama's reaction to the right has lead bad policies. So the manner in which the right behaves has huge consequences for the country.

This is one of the core issues in America. People in power are restricted to introduce good policies because one side will put them in a difficult position in the next election. I'm afraid to say that I doubt most Americans are gifted with the critical thinking skills to see through rhetoric and propaganda.

There are actually two factors muddying the water floating your question. Central to your question is critical thinking. One factor is cognitive distortions. I noticed you stated you are not generalizing. I agree and salute your awareness of that because it is a cognitive distortion.

Cognitive distortions were taught for 30+ years on TV with sitcoms, game shows, soaps, and most other forms of media including film and music. I see a massive amount of it on all forums.

The second factor is cognitive infiltration. Many individuals with possible bots (automated text conversationalists), covertly working as a group to prevent any agreement or unified thinking.

Those groups post political trivia and make it appear popular or functional. At the same time they work as teams to attack and de verify actual strategy for unity or politicical function.

All of my threads about the purpose if free speech are directed at countering cognitive infiltration.

The idea is that free speech has the inherent purpose within constitutional intent, to empower the unity needed to alter or abolish government destructive to our unalienable rights. That includes the unity to define constitutional intent as required for all amendments at an Article V convention. Therefore we have a prime constitutional intent which sincere Americans can agree upon. Unity is ALWAYS something which cognitive infiltrators must oppose, so they cannot agree. AND arguing against the purpose of free speech looks do bad they cannot do that either.

This means that by our agreement upon the purpose of free speech we can purify our ranks here online in forums. The cognitive infiltrators are holding their breath hoping no Anericans understand this strategy or accept that cognitive infiltration is as prevelant as it is creating the threat to our rights and freedoms it does.

Great topic! And I am sure we spawn all sorts of great thoughts! First of all how great is it that we live in a world where opposing ideas can be discussed. Just a handful of centuries ago we would all likely be branded heretics and burned at the stake.

Speaking from a conservative point a view. Albet I have a touch of liberalism in me on some social issues (abortion, gay marriage) etc. I've never understood the liberal fascination that government is the solver of problems. I've always believed that goverent does far more harm than good. I may be a product of my time where necessary government has already been established and we are in the era of government excess and over regulation. To me individual people solve problems and we do not need an omnipresent father figure in the form of Uncle Sam to live a basically good life. Now before a liberal comes on here and starts lacing into me about roads and welfare and all that. Do realize I understand that some for of government is required for the basics in life. defense, welfare, infrastructure, health codes, education, and so on and so forth. To simply the matter government should be about the basics that all humans need. The rest is up to us to solve for ourselves.

Then you're a leftist, regardless of how (or if) you classify yourself.

Because, speaking dispassionately, the right generally inclines toward good, and the left toward evil.

I've noticed you generally incline towards cognitive distortions. In this case, "all or nothing thinking".

Again you have misinterpreted what I have said. You are in no position to categorise me as left or right. You are not even aware of my views concerning various topics.

Good vs evil again. Does your mind comprehend that the world is far more complex than good vs evil? Or is the world far too complicated for you to understand so you narrow it down to good vs evil?

How would you define good vs evil?

It is a goal, IMO, of the 2 party system. As long as the parties can get the base pointing fingers at each other, they can run willy nilly their real agenda passed the sheeple.
If you look at real actions of the 2 parties, beneath the fluff put out in mainstream, they pretty much do as they wish and do it the same.

    Mind control.

    In no particular order...

    - The Left tends to be urban, while the Right tends to be rural/suburban.

    - The Left tends to be irreligious, while the Right tends to be religious.

    - The Left tends to support higher taxes, while the Right tends to support tax cuts.

    - The Left tends to support anti-business regulations, while the Right tends to support laissez faire economics.

    - The Left tends to support LGBT rights, while the Right tends to oppose them.

    - The Left tends to support abortion, while the Right tends to oppose it.

    - The Left tends to support a stronger federal government, while the Right tends to support state's rights.

    - The Left tends to support gun control, while the Right tends to support gun rights.

    - The Left tends to support a welfare state, while the Right tends to support a charity-based approach.

    - The Left is in bed with Big Labor, while the Right is in bed with Big Business.

This is a generalization from my point of view. But the right tends to see things in binary. White/black, good/evil, up/down. There are no gray areas to them. Even though there are 1000s of shades of gray.

    who the hell cares

Not at all. I've merely drawn from it a conclusion you find objectionable.

I don't need to be. I only need to be aware that you think leftists don't generally misrepresent conservative arguments, which only a leftist could believe.

I don't know what this is supposed to mean. A refuse pile is complicated, but only a fool would try to analyze it. Likewise, surely nothing in the political realm which does not somehow relate to good or evil is worthy of a moment's thought.

There's no need, since the capacity for discerning the difference is innate, and since, for those who have discarded said capacity, such definitions only serve as an engine of confusion.

Somewhere along those lines you got something wrong.

    Yes you do.

I'm referring to my experiences on this forum and how the right behaves in America. There are some reasonable people from the right though.

    Pick up a dictionary then.

How can you claim what is good vs evil when you cannot even explain what is it?

Well I'm talking about my personal experiences. I'm not trying to generalise but I have seen the right twist what the left have said so many times. This usually occurs in American politics. I don't see this happening in British politics.

Like I said you don't know my actual views on various topics so you cannot decide for me if I am left or right.

Its old Civil War tensions, its the Fascist South vs the Socialist North. Do you think Fascists and Socialists will ever get along and compromise? I dont. Yankee's live in the North, Dixies live in the South, we are two nations pretending to be one.

I agree, but figured id add one more.

    - The Left tends to support black kids who were murdered, the Right tends to support the white people who murdered them

Another thing you can do is switch "Left" with "North" and "Right" with "South", because as I said initially this is largely an old Civil War divide between the North and South, Dixie vs Yankee.

I'm in the left on this one.

I'm in the middle on this one. A healthy balance is required.

Again I'm in the middle on this one. Businesses need to be regulated in order to avoid harming consumers. For example, meat farms should be regulated so they produce good clean meat. However, too much regulation can put off potential investors and discourage businesses from starting, expanding, taking risks, etc

On the left on this one.

I'm in the middle of this one. Support abortion in certain circumstances.

Not sure about this one since I don't live in America.

This would depend on where I live. I would be in the centre on this one since so many Americans love their guns like as though it is their infant. In the UK everything is fine without guns so yeah...

I'm in the middle on this one. Benefits can be abused and charities are unreliable. A safety net should be available to everyone who falls under harsh times.

I'm very right wing when it comes down to punishing individuals that have been convicted of criminal offences. I'm all for capital and corporal punishment.

You're entitled to your silly opinion.

    See above.

    So I assumed.

That might be interesting if there were any reason to believe you know a reasonable person when you see one.

    Thanks for nothing.

If you don't know that a child can discern good from evil before it can spell either word, you don't know anything worth knowing.

What about torture? Our right wing supports torture, the left wing does not.

    yes

The left can be religious as well, they just don't think it belongs in government or schools

Tax cuts for the wealthy. I still haven't figured out why they haven't woken up to the fact that they are being played.

Not anit-business, pro other things. Environment for example

The left supports the freedom to live your life how you want (within reason) without being discriminated against.

It's not support for abortion, again it's support for freedom. In this case the freedom to do with your body as you choose.

No issue with either of these.

Welfare State is a loaded term. The left thinks all americans have the right to eat, and have a roof over their heads.

The left support everyone making a living, the right support a few getting rich.
