I have a neighbor who does Concrete work. He told me 20 years ago he was making $20 an hour, but today because of all the illegals in construction, he's lucky to get $15.

 

"Prevailing wage", per your claim is for the H1B visa: The H-1B visa program requires employers to “pay the prevailing wage or the actual wage paid by the employer to workers with similar skills and qualifications, whichever is higher”.

Otherwise prevailing wage is established by the states or the federal labor and occupation agencies for public works projects.

Any other "legal immigrant" is paid the same as any other employee.

Legalizing illegals isn't going to change how they are paid if they are already receiving minimum wage or more, it will only give them work authorization to which more will file tax forms at years end and increase the amount they already take for having a negative tax rate, to include credits they will be even more able to obtain.

we are talking illegal immigrants, not legal immigrants stop feigning stupidity. illegals are hired specifically because employers dont have to pay them as much as an american. why else would an employer knowingly commit tax fraud? stop changing the subject from illegal immigrants to legal. illegal is the topic

 

and if you made them legal immigrants with a swipe of the pen, all would be right with the world if jobs were what one were really concerned about.

 

no, it wouldnt. unemployment if anything would go up once millions of illegals all of the sudden required a higher wage than what they are getting payed. employers all over the country cant afford to give all their illegal workers a pay raise, they only hire illegals to save a dollar. giving them all legal status would send millions of them into unemployment and make them eligible for welfare. that's just about the dumbest solution available.
