I don't think so. Americans were very generous with Irish and Germans and let them immigrate in large numbers. It only became an issue with too many Irish.

Anglo Americans have become the "illegals" in New America which is of minorities, for minorities and about minorities. White Americans must earn their keep and re-earn their citizenship if they want to remain in what used to be "their" America.

The OP's point is valid.

During the peak of Rome's heyday, a non-Roman could buy citizenship. It wasn't cheap but it was doable and conferred its own benefits.

But, as always, you cannot discuss a path to citizenship until the borders are brought under control.

 

the way i see it natives had about 10000 years to evolve and they just didnt. they met an evolutionary dead end. they were trapped in the stone age living in tents wearing animal skin for clothes. they were sitting ducks for anyone to come along and wipe them out. if it wasnt the british french and spanish it would have been the nazi's 500 years later, there wouldnt be a single "native" left and we would both be speaking to each other in german right now.

i put native in quotes because they too immigrated to this continent at some point as well which means they aren't really native.

also mexican immigration laws bar any foreigner who "threaten to upset the equilibrium of national demographics" so there is race built right into their immigration laws. i wouldnt expect any mexican to be anything but part native and part european. how much of either ethnicity in their national bloodline cant be measured since there are 100% european in mexico as well as 100% native and everything in between. i think its safe to assume the majority of mexicans are somewhere right in the middle.

That is not why we have a quota system. It is to keep too many people from the same place from coming--quality is not a requirement except for the job-related quotas.

I say let them in and if they fall back on welfare for them or their children out they go. Open borders are fine with me, but we can't have open borders and a welfare state at the same time. 5 billion people in the world that could improve their lives just by living on welfare here if they came. There aren't very many European illegals. It doesn't matter much. They are discriminated against anyways. If your immigration policy was fair they will come legally.

What's the difference, illegal is illegal. Don't we want to put a stop to illegals coming into this country? I sure as hell do, I don't care where they are coming from. Forget about having them serve in the armed forces to earn citizenship. They are cutting tens of thousands from our armed forces. With so many Americans out of work, why would you want to add millions more to the mix? All we will do is swell our welfare rolls.
