It's a conflict between constitutional powers. Its the "offices" not personalities, not in the legal realm anyway.

Manning was a "person" who swore to uphold and defend the US, but he betrayed it.

"Obama was bad so it's OK if Trump is the same." Typical sophistry from hypocrite conservatives who worship the state even as they whine endlessly about it when the other side is in charge.

I guess any thread that contains the win of the century must also contain the century's most ridiculous comment; self-pwning at it's best.

I am 100% opposed to immigration and sanctuary cities. I support the building of a more robust wall at southern border and other measures to reduce illegal immigration.
And believe in making things tough on illegals so many more of them self deport. I firmly believe Sheriff Joe prosecuted unfairly. But I am not convinced the guy should have had
a full pardon. I believe Trump could have done something less that just kept him out of jail.

    Too white looking.

I wonder if your 16k plus public statements here might suggest another reason.

Sherrif Joe wasn't protecting anybody. He was securing his job by pandering to retirees from up North living in gated communities who were afraid of the pool boy.

Not much of what he did had any merit, and a lot of it was illegal. He cost "you" $140 million in legal fees and settlements over his antics.

He got "you" to pay for an all expense paid junket to Hawaii to "investigate" Barack Obama's birth certificate. Then he staged a noisy press conference to announce his findings, and postponed it several times to give the talk radio hosts time to gin up the show. Then he revealed that he had nothing.

Joe Arapio is only the latest in a long line of political charletans who made good by playing to the fears and prejudices of the bottom of the barrel.

So Trump once again can't accept personal responsibility for his own actions.....what a child.

...and he obviously needs to FOLLOW ( Obama ) rather than LEAD........but we knew that....

He is good at defending racist pigs and his followers, OF COURSE, greatly admire that...

The Trump cult's desperate attempt to justify their messiah's pardon of the racist geezer by citing their perennial lofty standard, President Obama, is amusing.

They whine, "But, but, but, Obama, who completed two terms with an approval rating 24 point hight than Trump's current dismal plight, did it, too!"

False, of course. Obama never nullified a verdict. A commutation is not the same as a pardon. The latter absolves a citizen of a legitimate conviction.

Trump denied the old fart serving his sentence entirely. The U.S. Justice Department recommends waiting at least five years before pardoning a conviction.

Trump, in one squalid move widely criticized by Republicans - including GOP senators and congressmen - has both struck a blow for his police state and against the "law and order" principle that criminals must pay for their crimes - all whilst scoffing at local authority via blatant federal interference.

Of course, his cult wouldn't care if he shot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue, so the rule of law is not very high on their list of concerns.

There is no evidence that he committed any crime.

It's an obvious case of political persecution and Trump did the right thing.

And yet a reasonable defense should be, Arpaio was politically persecuted by the previous administration. Truly, the most under reported aspect of the Obama administration. So, it isn't just a "well the O did it" BS. This is rectifying the abuse of power mr Obama actually accomplished during his administration. There isn't much difference here between Joe being prosecuted and what happened in Soviet Russia, or what currently is happening in Putin's Russia. Obama was the menace and used his department of O Justice to attack political enemies. Likely, you're still willing to give him a pass.

So, if Trump pardons Joe, it's a clear differentiation between what mr O did with his abuse of power compared to what mr Trump is now doing.

Betrayal of what? Unconstitutional misconduct by the President? Aren't we supposed to oppose that type of thing? Or were you more comfortable shipping Joe off to the Gulag?

False. He provided the evidence in his own words when he publically boated that he was going to defy a court order.

What unconstitutional misconduct by what President????

And what jurisdiction does a local sherrif have in the matter.

If your phony assertion had any merit, the courts provide the remedy.

But Arpaio placed himself above the law, and above other elected officials.

    He is a criminal.

It's really no different than the mayors of Sanctuary cities defying executive orders being charged with contempt then being pardoned. It's a political pardon. Period.

The only thing that Trump destroyed was our faith in him as POTUS.

It's Department of Justice FYI but whatever.

Point you seem to miss is that the POTUS is the DOJ, as he is in charge of the executive branch, which the DOJ reports to through the AG, who, perhaps you didn't know this but is appointed by said POTUS (you're welcome)

Not that this matters whatsoever since anything Trump does, doesn't do, or even thinks about doing will ever be met with any kind of rational thought from the rabid like democrats with press passes that issue the party orders to the likes of you. Who can do nothing other then throw insults (punches and urine filled balloons at the weekend rallies top of course) at the normal working people in the country.

Personally, I think this tripling down on stupid is great for the future of the Democrats who have been destroyed everywhere outside of the coastal CA, and NY area. I hope it keeps up as long as possible.
