Also, there is more ocean than there is land . . . why would the oceans be more racially monolithic than the land? That's dumb as hell.

LoL I knew you'd go with Egypt, as it was the only choice you had, and Egyptians have little in common with the rest of Africa.

    So predictable.

It's about riling the working of old white men. And it's working.
As if old white men actually watch The Little Mermaid. LOL.

the only constant in life is change.

Oh my God, I just talked to my wife about this over lunch, and she had 2 wonderful observations:

"1) If Robin Hood can be a ****ing FOX, then Ariel can be black. 2) I'm a hell of a lot more Chinese than Donny Osmond, but which one of us played a Chinese character in Mulan?"

    Probably never.
Some writher visualized them and wrote about them.
Since they don't exist, they made them the only way their limited life exposure made them.

Now, we all know there's a big vast world out there with many different kinds of people. And aghast, they are not all white. In fact, most of the world is not white.

You care enough to complain about fictional characters not being white.
You participate in a thread you don't care about the topic? Why? It must have to do with skin color.

That would explain why african mythical creatures are typically black and asian mythical creatures are typically asian.

    Go figure. They're racists.

We all know what it's about, but keep cranking out woke garbage and owning yourselves.

Where did I complain? On the contrary, leftists should be as openly leftist as they possibly can be.

    I encourage it.

And if some white person goes in and writes their own version of a fictional character, so be it. I certainly won't get tightie whities in a bunch.
    It's a fictional story.

Yeah I'm sure if a white guy played the black panther you'd be fine with it. lolz.

Leftists would completely lose their **** and cry rivers.

You make it sound like Hollywood hasn't never cast a white actor in non-white roles. It has been a long time term call "Whitewashing". How many Charlie Chan films were made without an Asian actor? How many North American Indians have been portrayed in movies by white actors? How many Persians, Egyptians, Indians, etc... have been replaced by white actors. This is nothing new. The outrage is just much higher now. Do you disagree? How much outrage were there from the boomer generation when this was a common practice in Hollywood? Here is a list of films starting from 1916 onward and it is far from complete.

Your projections are really worthless. LOL. But you could have a retirement job of writing fiction.
Just keep those whitey tighties loose fitting.

I have never watched a Bollywood film but I am sure they do the same thing. My whole point was this has been going on forever but now with the Little Mermaid it is a big deal whereas with the countless times of whitewashing in the past it was totally ignored.

Oh I'm not projecting. You know how many tears and hair pulling rage there would be over a white black panther, or any other made up black character being replaced with a white actor.

    It's quite obvious.

My underwear are black bro. Don't be racist.

Perhaps that's because the vast majority of countries are mono-racial.

The only people making it a big deal are leftists.

As usual, they create an issue then complain about what they created.

I don't think it is leftist that have issues with Little Mermaid. I have watch the rants on Tik Tok for the last week and it is not coming from leftist. Like I asked the boomers or gen X, was there the same outrage when John Wayne portrayed Genghis Khan or Burt Lancaster playing an Apache Warrior because these same people are ranting about a black little mermaid.

Yes, the manufactured "outrage" is coming from leftists.

They decided to cast a black mermaid because there were too many white ones apparently (racial quotas and all), some guy CGI'd it to make it white, and leftists lost their ****.

We're not the ones losing our minds over it.

The real issue is that someone took a black mermaid and made it white and now leftists are losing their **** because someone made a black mermaid white.

The they you are referring to is people who have the power to give little black girls a fantasy with a character as popular as Ariel.

Anyway, the so-called "real" Ariel was a gay man. Look it up. True story. Also a true story? There was no "real" Ariel.

But, please do tell me how Jesus was a lily white dude.

To be honest I didn't realize someone CGI Little Mermaid to be white but the outrage over the casting of a black Little Mermaid has been going on since the trailer was released. Go on Tik Tok and watch some of the reactions.

I am not surprised if the left is upset with the person that CGI the Little Mermaid white. That is close to the "Black Face" controversy and the person doing it must have known there would have been blow back.

Oh I read it. I saw what you did. You were trying to bring in some other source that has nothing to do with Tolkien to claim legitimacy for...Tolkien. Of course this is a discussion properly held in the "Rings of Power" thread but you bailed after I posted this:

And I've already told you that every description of an elf in Tolkien was described as fair, and then you ran away from the thread, but you still felt so strongly about this that you started talking about elves in a Mermaid thread. Weird. You're really invested in this for some reason, but I doubt you'll ever explain why.
