So...then God rewrote the Bible(s) relatively recently? Did he come down here to do it or just Poof the changes with his magic editing skills?

I did not claim that God does/or should not deal with humans today differently than in the past so why are you going on about this ?

That is an interesting conversation but has no bearing on the fact that God made a rule "children are not to be punished for the sins of their parents" - and then turned around and had the Israelite's kill babies and children - because of the sins of their parents.

God did deal with the Israelite's the same as he did with the Jews under Jesus by making this rule so your inferred claim that he did not so your inferred claim that he did in this instance is false.

Then there is the problem of God being depicted a xenophobic genocidal maniac. This has nothing to do with human flaws and everything to do with God's flaws.

Even if you wanted to apologize for God's behavior on some evolutionary change - you have not stated what that evolutionary change is. So what is this evolutionary change in humans that justifies killing children and babies ?

If you're quoting the Bible, you must believe everything in the Bible. You must believe that it was written by God. You're a theist and you believe that Hell exists and that man's soul is eternal (tortured in the lake of fire forever).

I've quoted norse mythology, that does not mean I believe in it.

You're arguing that a fictional character in a book of fiction can't be real. And you do it on a daily basis. Get a life.

I doubt that very much. I doubt you know any Norse mythology. Perhaps "quote" wasn't the best word to use. I should have said cited. You're citing a book of fiction to disprove an entity you don't believe exists. And you think the Bible is the first and last word on the subject of God - it's your only point of reference. None of you ever deny the existence of Buddha or Muhammad and that tells us all we need to know about you.

Your opinion on my education has no bearing on the validity of the subject. were you raised in a culture that did not read mythology?

one cannot “cite” a document to prove a negative. I’m not sure who you’re referring to with “us” and “you” but I cannot disprove the existence of any gods.

Now, I’ve cited many passages from a variety of sources, at no time does that indicate I believe or disbelieve in the contents of those quotes.

One may cite sources and not be sold on their contents.

I am arguing with folks who believe the fiction is real. That is the point of having an argument. Why are you so distraught ?
