I simply care for people more than you do, that's all (that's not a put-down to you since I know you also care for people.) You just don't care for people as much as I do (again, you are indeed a caring person, however), since you were replying to a request to condemn Mohammad for saying people can't build/repair churches and yet you steadfastly refused to condemn Mohammad for his bigotry. I make a moral stand for bigotry, and you don't. Some day I hope you can join me in condemning bigotry (you can't condemn Jesus' bigotry for saying that non-believing scum get tortured forever, either.) But I have hope that you'll be able to move to the higher moral plane that is Modern Secular Humanism soon.

    Have a great week.

How are the Islamic texts evil, since you believe that both sides are evil?

    Ok, fair enough.....

But lets really be fair about it, and take your analogy one step further....

Below are stats on just murder alone in the US from 2014. (2015 stats are still being compiled)

    Latest Crime Stats Released
Decrease in 2014 Violent Crimes, Property Crimes

    09/28/15

Today, the FBI is releasing the 2014 edition of its annual report Crime in the United States, a statistical compilation of offense, arrest, and police employee data reported voluntarily by law enforcement agencies that participate in the Bureau’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. This latest report reveals that the estimated number of violent crimes reported by law enforcement to UCR’s Summary Reporting System during 2014 decreased 0.2 percent when compared with 2013 data. And the estimated number of property crimes decreased 4.3 percent from 2013 levels.

Here are some highlights from Crime in the United States, 2014:

◾There were an estimated 1,165,383 violent crimes (murder and non-negligent homicides, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults) reported by law enforcement.

◾Aggravated assaults accounted for 63.6 percent of the violent crimes reported, while robberies accounted for 28.0 percent, rape 7.2 percent, and murders 1.2 percent.

◾There were an estimated 8,277,829 property crimes (burglaries, larceny-thefts, and motor vehicle thefts) reported by law enforcement. Financial losses suffered by victims of these crimes were calculated at approximately $14.3 billion.

◾Larceny-theft accounted for 70.8 percent of all property crimes reported, burglary for 20.9 percent, and motor vehicle theft for 8.3 percent

◾Police made an estimated 11,205,833 arrests during 2014—498,666 for violent crimes, and 1,553,980 for property crimes. More than 73 percent of those arrested during 2014 were male.

◾The highest number of arrests was for drug abuse violations (1,561,231), followed by larceny-theft (1,238,190) and driving under the influence (1,117,852).

Ask me how many Muslims contributed to all of these stats (in 2014)..............."THREE MUSLIMS"................

And these Muslims are of a non-Arabic background at that.

March 6, 2014 – Registered sex offender James Cosby, 46, is accused of bludgeoning his lesbian daughter to death and shooting her lover in Port Bolivar, Texas.

April 27, 2014 – A 30-year-old Muslim man, Ali Muhammad Brown, is accused of shooting to death two men in Seattle and a man in New Jersey.

Sept. 25, 2014 – Alton Nolen is accused of beheading a woman in Moore, Oklahoma.

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2013: FIVE

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2012: ONE

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2011: TWO

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2010: ONE

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2009: SIX

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2008: TWO

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2007: ZERO (NONE)

How many Muslims committed murder in the US in 2006: FOUR

This is why I left the church years ago because I just couldn't wrap my head around believing in any being that could allow such atrocities in the world to happen.....like ISIS for example.

I saw a video the other day that none of you will ever see because it was sent to me via a Syrian soldier that was actually engaged in the fight of retaking Palmyra Syria.

A bunch of ISIS soldiers killed 200 "kids" because they refused to join their school where kids are taught to hate & fight.

They lined all of these kids up on their stomachs making a long line out of them, and then walked along them while shooting them all in their backs as their bodies twitched & jumped from the bullets hitting them. (it was beyond disgusting to watch)

Where was God to save them, so I understand.

But I also realize that millions of people in all religions do good works, and religion isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so.......

That leaves us all with some hard choices to make. We can demonize all of them or we can realize that there is good & bad in all of them.

I posted all the videos I did to show everybody that the situation isn't as bleak as they think, and that people are more together than they may have previously thought.

We could Tecoyah, and to be sure many of them (from all religions) are complete loons - but in doing so we may miss out on some opportunities of learning or growing.

Both you & I know several people that are very religious, and a bit extreme, while we also know some that are just as grounded as you & I like the young Christian girl in the first video.

If you didn't watch that video all the way through, please do.

I have to admit that it's pretty powerful, and God really has nothing to do with it.

It's more about her self discovery as a person.

By that logic humans who think they can swim naked in molten lava and come out unscathed can. I like your enthusiasm but think you are being a bit naive. If you believe I am wrong please tell me your plan to get all members of ISIS to love all and hate none. You do that and I see the Nobel Peace Prize in your future!

Well of course that's impossible as those people are way beyond any type of rational thought.

But then, I'm not really including them in this conversation as I am everyone else.

I've lived long enough, and have learned enough from history, and seen enough of the world from all of my travels to know what's' ahead of us, and what we're all up against - but yes I am hopeful.

None us will ever get the type of people that prescribe to brutal terror tactics on board (I accept that) but what I won't accept is all of us that are "based in reality" to turn away from each other.

I've lived my entire life talking steps toward others in the hope that they would take steps towards me, and I'll continue to do it because up to now........it's been pretty damn successful for me, and it kept me alive throughout my travels in some pretty hostile places.

Short true story before I go:

An uncle of mine had a neat experience a long time ago that I'd like to share.

He was a diesel mechanic & truck driver by trade who owned his own rig, and drove all over the country.

He was in the deep south in Mississippi hauling some goods when his truck broke down, and he was forced to leave his truck to try to get some help.

Before he left the truck, he got on his radio, and asked a buddy of his that was also in the area for some help, and his buddy told him to just stay put and "not" to leave the rig because that section of the state where he was "was not very friendly" towards people of color.

My uncle being the kind of guy he was completely ignored his buddy, and told him that he was headed for a local bar that he had spotted a ways back, and he would wait there instead of in the rig.

My uncle's buddy begged him to just stay in the truck, but he left anyway.

A few hours later his trucker buddy showed up at his rig, couldn't find him, and immediately suspected the worst. He decided to give the bar my uncle was talking about a shot, and sure enough..........

My uncle was inside the bar dancing on the counter with two girls in each arm, and every cat in the place was hooping & hollering and the music was blasting. My uncles buddy walked in, looks at my uncle, and shakes his head in disbelief while he ordered a drink. (straight out of a movie scene)

Another hour or so later when everybody was really good & drunk people were telling my uncle to please come back that way if fate ever brought him to those parts.

That was my uncle, he was an amazing guy, he could make Satan himself like him, and he was "deeply" loved everywhere he went. When he died people flew in from as far away as California to Jersey to make the funeral, and there were people outside that couldn't get in because the funeral parlor was so packed.

That's the type of people I come from, so I'm cursed to have this stupid, eternal hope that one day it'll all work out.

    Have a great day..................

Who gets to decide what reality is and by what authority?

Indeed as how one treats another will have an impact upon how the other treats us.

Apparently you come from one of the most diverse families of anybody on this forum, so I can feel the pain that this conflict might be causing you. That's because you are a caring person.
You arguably you have more of a direct stake in this conflict than most people do. I may not always agree with you, but I want to tell you that I'm glad that you are giving your learned opinion - in possibly the most heart-felt and sincere manner of any forum poster I've ever seen on this forum. You don't give short posts (like I often lazily do) just off the top of your head, you give longer well-thought-out posts that obviously you've put a lot of thought into. Keep posting, we need more people like you.

It's sometimes hard to not think about dismissing them as fools when they have talking snakes, talking donkeys, talking reindeer, and a talking dead guy.

[Edit: ooops, I got religion mixed up with a holiday legend there, again, sorry, it's so hard to tell the difference (the talking dead guy is obviously just a December holiday legend - sorry again.)]

It's not about hate vs love (though the Muslim religion hates my guts but that's a different topic). I love everybody. It's what they say, believe, and do is what I disagree with/dislike/even hate. Jesus said "I'm the way, the truth, the life, and no man comes to the father except through me" while the quran says "there is no God but Allah" and Jesus was just a prophet. You can't mix those together.

Sorry but you seem to be continuously misstating my position. What I actually said that both sides always think the other side is evil. Understand now, or do I have to resort to single syllable words?

    Thanks...................

For the record here's my ancestral breakdown...

Mom's side: Moroccan, African, Native American Indian (Blackfoot Tribe), Irish

Dad's side: Sicilian, Syrian, Scottish, English, Welsh, German, Greek

These were all confirmed through a DNA test I did years ago for both my parents blood lines.

I have, and/or have found relatives in just about every country except for Asia...........seriously.

This is isn't me, but if you sprinkle some gray hair on the sides of this guy, I'm pretty much a dead ringer for him, and I've been "cursed" with being his doppelganger. Just like me he's of a mixed heritage.

    El Debarge.jpg

I've been mistaken for him my entire life, I've always "hated" it, and yes it' still happens.

So maybe now you have a better image of me, and why I have the positions I do.

I just root for the under dog bro................I always have.
