Wealth distribution is a reality and always has been. The fact that it is currently so skewed in the direction of moving the wealth and resources of the US from the bottom to the top is an injustice that should be corrected for the long term survival and health of the nation.

You can take the massive increase in the national debt and the massive increase in the wealth of the upper class moving in the same direction as proof that the wealth of the nation is increasingly being transferred from the nation as a whole and the future to the upper class.

Or take another interesting factoid which is the difference between the interest paid on bank savings accounts or government debt instruments and the interest rates charged on credit cards.

The laws are written by the rich for the rich and that is simply a fact. Why do you think that money ftom labor is taxed at a higher rate thsn money from capital? Could it possibly be because the rich are the overwhelming beneficiaries?

Yes we should all be grateful for the scraps thrown from the tables of the obscenely wealthy..

And why do you think we have a heathcare system that bankrupts people when they get sick? And who do you think actually paid for the care in hospice?

A few interesting statistics on wealth distribution from Wikapedia in the United States. Take particular note of the trends.

In 2007, the top 20% wealthiest possessed 80% of all financial assets.[19] In 2007 the richest 1% of the American population owned 35% of the country's total wealth, and the next 19% owned 51%. Thus, the top 20% of Americans owned 86% of the country's wealth and the bottom 80% of the population owned 14%. In 2011, financial inequality was greater than inequality in total wealth, with the top 1% of the population owning 43%, the next 19% of Americans owning 50%, and the bottom 80% owning 7%.[20]However, after the Great Recession which started in 2007, the share of total wealth owned by the top 1% of the population grew from 35% to 37%, and that owned by the top 20% of Americans grew from 86% to 88%. The Great Recession also caused a drop of 36% in median household wealth, but a drop of only 11% for the top 1%, further widening the gap between the top 1% and the bottom 99%.[18][20][21]

According to PolitiFact and others, in 2011 the 400 wealthiest Americans have more wealth than half of all Americans combined.[22][23] Inherited wealth may help explain why many Americans who have become rich may have had a substantial head start.[24][25] In September 2012, according to the Institute for Policy Studies, over 60 percent of the Forbes richest 400 Americans grew up in substantial privilege.[26]

In 2013 wealth inequality in the U.S. was greater than in most developed countries other than Switzerlandand Denmark.[27]

However, according to the federal reserve, "For most households, pensions and Social Security are the most important sources of income during retirement, and the promised benefit stream constitutes a sizable fraction of household wealth" and "including pensions and Social Security in net worth makes the distribution more even".[32] A September 2017 study by the Federal Reserve reported that the top 1% owned 38.5% of the country's wealth in 2016.[33]

According to a June 2017 report by the Boston Consulting Group, around 70% of the nation's wealth will be in the hands of millionaires and billionaires by 2021.[34]

Yes, but they can't succeed to a higher elevation without approval..
I will drop the class warfare when the upper crust does also.

Wealth is not obscene. Is there anyone in America poorer than you are? Are you throwing them all scraps until you're as poor as they are? Unlikely.

    Hatred and bigotry are.

    Says who?

People that remain poor throughout their lives are either disabled, or they fail to manage money and opportunity. That's it.. There is no "The Man Kept Me Down" in America.

Nice try. When you can't actually have an intelligent discussion try " hatred and bigotry"

I think it's a tacky waste of funds.

Indoor plumbing may be obscene to a jealous gambling addict that lost his home and lives on the streets.

Unfortunatly not true since the greatest predictor of wealth is being born wealthy. That was the funny Trump lie about building his fortune on his 1 million loan from his dad when in fact it appears he got something close to a half billion.

The class you were born into is the highest predictor of the class you will end up in. There is a reason why the eliminating inheritance taxes are so important to the rich.

The reason for the growing wealth inequality after a recession is that the rich can weather the storm, whereas the poor have to sell assets to stay afloat. Thus, the rich can buy assets on fire sale.

Wait for the next Trump-induced recession to repeat the cycle. The rich are definitely flush in cash to spend on distressed assets. Maybe then we'll get to the point where the top 1% will own 60% of all wealth. When will their defenders eventually say enough is enough? When the top 1% own 90% of all wealth? 99%? Make no mistake, we are heading there on the current trajectory.

Also of course the wealthy do invest overseas and can afford to wait out the economic downturns that are so damaging to the rest of the country.

Actually those that have money usually know best how to handle it. Just a fact of life. Do you believe American tax dollars are wisely used to prop up foreign Nations? Nations that despise us? How does that help the wealthy or the poor? With tax reductions, decreased bureaucratic regulation, we are seeing a rise in the middle class. That is to be desired. Class warfare that you seem to promote only ends in slavery.

So you are claiming that an average wage earner that spends their lives paying bills on time is no better than someone who earns billions?

Yes I do believe that foreign aid is a valuable part of increasing American influence in the world.

And please post your data showing the long term increase in the percentage of wealth controlled by the Middle Class.

And class warfare has been primarily conducted by the Republicans for the benefit of the wealthy who endlessly try to cut any program that helps the poor or would lead to more equal opportunity.

I would say the inability to compete due to regulation is a large share of the increase in medical care. If I were to invent a cure for cancer, I believe you would despise the ground I walk on because you would describe me as "obscenely rich". You resign your self to "peasanthood" and see yourself as Robinhood of sorts. So did Karl Marx.

All are of equal value. Just different positions in life that you seem to resent. Contentment to live as a free person seems to trouble you.
