Liz Cheney Stumps Green New Dealers With One Question: Did You Fly Here?

Cheney asked the expert panel, comprised of four Democrat and two Republican witnesses, to state how they each arrived in Washington D.C., for the hearing. Four of the six witnesses stated that they traveled by airplane, the very means of transportation they hope to diminish.

Actually, voting "present" (or not voting at all) would be a great strategy for Dem Senators who want to avoid going on record.

A good day to call in sick.

Well, that's two posts in a row where I agree with you AJ.

Still a bit of a risk that the people who supported it will have their non-support used against them. For all intents and purposes, Occasional Cortex has just hung an albatross around the necks of a lot of people. Dunno how they'll deal with it. Or her.

    LOL

Given Obama's Policies on trade and US business, the largest supplier of Solar panels is China. Remarkable you think improving economic conditions in China is something you're proud to attribute to Obama.

You think the only people capable of reaching for long term goals are Progressives? That's a remarkable claim, given all the evidence. Consider the insanity of your teams New Green Deal.

In order to reach those long term goals, the economy must be sound and capable of funding the transition and the R&D. That fact always escapes the emotion driven fantasies of the hard left.

Maybe they can put their pink vagina hats on that day as well.

Might as well use a visual that exemplifies their "strategy".

    I think you're right.

The Democrats are clearly the emerging party of the Mellenials, who are now the largest voting block in the US, which will only grow.

The GOP has been the party of the aging white baby boomers for twenty years, and shows no signs of changing. The party, and its current leader are steadfastly ignoring the multiple warnings from within the GOP that they have a serious demographic problem.

This vote is good for McConnell, who will face re election in 2020, and he needs a gimmick he can wave to the coal crowd.

But it may prove to be disasterous for the GOP in the long run.

There are aspects of the Green New Deal that are clearly impractical. And it certainly will not come to pass as described. These big picture proposal almost never do.

But there will be no long term risk in making a commitment to universal health care, alternative energy, addressing manmade global warming, and a return to the sort of income distribution that we had 50 years ago, when the middle class' standard of living was still rising,

McConnell is signalling that he will schedule a vote so the GOP will be in record as opposing all of these things.

Democrats will have that to remind voters for years to come.

Well you can take you pick from that list of hers. Let's take the one you like in that list. How about forcing 30% of the home owners (actually way more than that as we must also get rid of natural gas, oil and nuclear power) that they must get rid of the furnaces in their homes, they are no longer allowed. That is the heavy hand of government.

Where exactly does the resolution say that? Can you actually provide an excerpt? Have you even read the actual resolution or are you just repeating imaginary Republican talking points?

Yesterday Liz Cheney made sure it was on Record for the House. After mocking it for a little bit of time., She then asked the Demos on the Committee if they supported the Green New Deal. Not one Demo answered.

Do you have a reading problem. The article is talking about blog. Not her plan. Here is what the article says:

WASHINGTON — Days after introducing her Green New Deal — a plan to combat climate change that has won the endorsement of several Democratic presidential candidates — Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez found the proposal enmeshed in confusion when her staff published a summary that included provisions not endorsed by the candidates.

Over the weekend her staff backed away from the document, saying it was incomplete and had been published by accident, after Republicans pounced on the plan, citing a blog post of frequently asked questions. That post included language that called for economic security “for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”

Are you so desperate that you have to deliberatly confuse a criticism of a summary by her staff and the actual resolution.

You got it all wrong. CourtJester wins again.

Even Axios, Politico, and the Atlantic are calling it a smart move by McConnell. Oh and the Atlantic points out how McConnell will have some more good hits to come. That the Demos screwed up placing all their high hopes on a freshman Congresswoman. Knowing McConnell would be able to exploit that weakness.

The 'Gobbler' McConnell is wise to force a vote on this 'Green Dream' bill, to get the Dem's on the record, lol. I would hate to have to defend supporting it, years down the line, in a 1 on 1 debate for any office... Obviously, the 2020 hopefuls are conveniently for the bill, prior to the primaries, as this appeals to the majority of their progressive base. After clinching the nom, all that would obviously change as they try to appeal to the whole purview of the US constituency, lol. Tis the nature of politics, though with Trump I feel as though we were given a reprieve so far. Unfortunately, for Trump to survive going forward, he is now grappling w/ having to 'play the game' too, more 'contrived' semantics & 'optics' (esp. on da' wall). All I can do is continue sending e-mails to the POTUS & my Cong critters. :) At best, they get catalogued by some low level staffer in the form of feedback data...

Liz made that Green New Deal down for the Record. After having some fun with the Demos on the Panel and making them look like bumbling idiots. She asked the Demos if they support the Green New Deal. Not one would answer that question.

they should concentrate their efforts against silly things like 'cern' that uses enough energy to power 300,000 homes every year... let alone all the other costs...

    https://home.cern/science/engineering/powering-cern

they could cover the entire planet with solar panels & it wouldnt provide enough power for everyone...

Have you figured out why AOC took her Green New Deal down from her Official Site, yet? Here is a major clue.....its not because she wanted to.

No you found it in amother article which apparently you cannot actually link to but not in the actual resolution. Anyone can make up anything but the original claim was that the resolution called for eliminating airplanes and cows which is to put it simple just a lie.

Glad to see you agree that the New York Times didn't criticize her proposal. The CourtJester wins again.

And I assume you are confusing this part of the Times article with actually removing the final resolution from anywhere

“An early draft of a FAQ that was clearly unfinished and that doesn’t represent the GND resolution got published to the website by mistake,” Saikat Chakrabarti, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff, wrote on Twitter, referring to the plan by its acronym.

CourtJester isn't tired of winning yet!

Any of the Dems that think that a Yes vote will help them politically will vote Yes.

The ones that don't want to vote Yes or No can sit it out or call.in sick.

Obviously, as the draft version is written, it is a ridiculous pipe dream.

There are variations between what Ocasio is saying and what the Dems are doing with her proposals. She is calling for specifics and deadlines. They are fuzzying her words with generic platitudes and no specifics on how to accomplish these. They are playing politics without giving any specifics. She says deadlines for eliminating fossil fuels while they say we support renewable energy (who doesn't?).

No, I found it at the link in his post. The red one that said here.

    It was the first FAQ.

thats another issue that needs to be addressed... abstaining & sick outs... our congress has only one job, be there to hash out americas issues, & it should be mandated that each & everyone one of the reps/senators cast a 'yea or nay' vote on each & every proposal/issue... mail em in if need be...

Democratic Senators on the floor now opposing any vote on the New Green Deal. Funny. I love the way they state that polling means that they are right on the alarmist position and often quoting false facts.
