Meng Wanzhou and China acting surly.

Seriously, when she was arrested while transferring planes in :flagcanada:
I felt her arrest is more trouble than it is worth.
Her and her company's industrial crimes could have been managed differently.

Way back I uploaded an article by a :flagcanada: high brow, political thinker
saying a wise nation would have told her not to come.

    Instead,

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/causing-chinas-recent-war-words-200500611.html
What is Causing China's Recent War of Words on Washington?
. . . . Even when it comes to human security, China is securitizing its investments and citizens overseas. “China will kill to send a message,” former Reuters journalist Ethan Lou wrote in response to the death sentence meted out to a Canadian man convicted of drug smuggling. Whatever the truth about the Canadian's actions, the sentence seems aimed at gaining retribution against and leverage over Canada after it detained Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou on charges of violating international sanctions. China’s Foreign Ministry has issued repeated warnings, telling the United States and Canada it “will take action” in response to any extradition of Meng Wanzhou. Beijing's language is becoming unhinged over the Meng affair. In a coarsely crafted op-ed, Chinese ambassador to Canada Lu Shaye wrote that Meng's arrest sprung from “white supremacy.” . . . . .

Was the arrest really worth it?
I am not doubting the guilt of her company and her as an executive of that company.
I am saying there was a better way to manage the international crime.

Canadian PM fires envoy to China after remarks on Huawei case
    1/27/19
OTTAWA (Reuters) - In an unprecedented move, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday said he had fired his ambassador to China, who prompted a political furor with comments about Huawei's high-profile extradition case.
John McCallum had embarrassed Trudeau's Liberal government by saying Huawei Technologies Co Ltd [HWT.UL] Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou could make a strong argument against being sent to the United States. . . .

Was the arrest really worth it?

    No kidding here.
    This is my honest angle.
Her arrest was an act of stupidity when they could have simply told her
    "don't come to :flagcanada:, eh".

The ramifications and collateral damage is just not worth it.
That is my true assessment since the incident.
And of course it involves :flagus: too.
    Simply, not necessary.
    Very costly showmanship.

    Is that clear enough?

She owns property in Canada. Too late to tell her not to come.
It's a lesson to the Chinese-as you sow, so shall you reap.
China needs to learn how to play nicely.

I don't want to be involved as the teacher!

Wait for Russia or Iran to do it.
Or even some league with the Euros.
    Give :flagus: a break.

Neither Russia nor Iran is going to do it. Don't know about a party of European countries.

I just bet the MIC is rubbing their collective hands in gleeful anticipation!

Military industrial complex. The people who make money from wars.
India would only co operate with us about cricket.
Japan is not such a large market I think. They would have little influence on China and Aust is a minnow in the world trade scheme of things.

Every country has a military industrial complex and China is clearly interested in being numero uno and given there government I'm not interested in that eventuality.

POINT: The arrest of Meng Wanzhou was not necessary.

    It was showmanship.
And Orientals are pretty intolerant to being the target of showmanship. Si?

The arrest had the effect of using gasoline to put out a fire.
The fire is happening now. See #1.
From day 1 of the arrest, I needed no clairvoyant abilities to see that future
in China -:flagcanada: &:flagus: Relations deteriorating.
:( I am so alone in that realization on this Board.

Should we ignore Chinese Industrial Crimes.
    No.
But, there are better ways of dealing with it that showy arrests.

MIGC was the original, unedited phrase and makes more sense.
Military-Industrial-Government Complex. And it makes more sense too.
The gov't being the only customer of these military industries.

BS.....They sell to mercenaryies ....I mean "Security Firms" all over the world. They sell to foreign governments including out enemies (China, Russia, etc), and some of them have even been accused of selling to terrorists organizations, but are very careful to ensure those sales are done through third parties, and that there is no paper trail that leads to them. They don't care who gets their weapons.

The Point Attempted From The First,
    "Was it worth it?"
"Was it the nation of :flagcanada:
if you believe there is interests?"

    Short Answer: No!
    Witness https://www.yahoo.com/news/fed-canada-tells-u-help-china-crisis-forget-155638085--business.html

Fed up Canada tells U.S. to help with China
    crisis or forget about favors

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada is leaning on the United States to help settle a dispute with China, which has started to block imports of vital Canadian commodities amid a dispute over a detained Huawei executive.

In a sign of increasing frustration at what it sees as a lackluster U.S. response, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government is signaling it could withhold cooperation on major issues.

China has upped the pressure on Canada in recent weeks over the arrest of Huawei Technologies Co Ltd Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou, arrested last December on a U.S. warrant. It halted Canadian canola imports and last week suspended the permits of two major pork producers.

After Meng's Vancouver arrest, Chinese police also detained two Canadian citizens.

Beijing is refusing to allow a Canadian trade delegation to visit, forcing officials to use video conference calls as they try to negate a major threat to commodity exports.

With no cards to play against China without risking significant economic damage, Canada has launched a full-court press in Washington, which is negotiating its own trade deal with Beijing. . . . . .

    Europe is not supportive either.
What a debacle. I knew it from the first moments.

There were better avenues to address the problem without
taking it out on Meng's FREEDOM. Si?
Who but :flagcanada: can prevent :flagcanada: Stupid?

    Free Meng Wanzhou
or bring her to a trial!

Canada judge won't relax Huawei CFO bail conditions
    Fri, January 29, 2021, 11:37 AM
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A Canadian judge on Friday rejected a bid to ease bail conditions for a senior executive of Chinese tech giant Huawei who was arrested in Canada on a U.S. extradition warrant.

British Columbia Supreme Court Justice William Ehrcke said the current restrictions are the minimum required to ensure Meng Wanzhou, the daughter of Huawei’s founder and its chief financial officer, does not flee Canada.

The judge dismissed Meng’s application for changes to her bail conditions, which would have allowed her to leave her Vancouver home outside the hours of her overnight curfew without the presence of security.

FREE Meng Wanzhou or let's have a trial already!

    :flagcanada:
    Got FREEDOM ?

    The correct answer is, "No".

    :flagcanada: is UnFree
