Mexico is slated to send a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) this week to urge Congress to approve a new trade deal. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on Monday that the letter will be sent soon about the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), Reuters reported on Monday morning.

He made the statement during a regular government news conference alongside other Mexican officials. Last week, amid the House impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, Pelosi said the USMCA trade deal probably will not pass by the end of 2019.

How sad is it that the Mexican President is calling out Pelosi for not moving forward with the USMCA?

The trade deal has sat on her desk for a year now-and would bring jobs to both the USA and Mexico. It would also boost the economy.

And yet all Pelosi and Dems care about is the sham-peachmint.

Pelosi has also been dragging her heels on a pay increase for the military.

It really shows you where top dems priorities lie-and its NOT with peace and prosperity.

In fact, she is apparently using the USMCA to convince some of her fellow democrats to vote for impeachment.

Mexico does more to protect our border than Democrats.

Now they have to help Democrats pass American trade agreements.

Democrats (in Congress for the overly censorious censors) are worthless.

The only way she will support it would be for somehow for them to gain credit for it while smearing Trump.

They simply will not allow him to have anything.

    :bored:

    So?

Since WHEN did any attempted intervention by another's country's leader into the Internal Politics of the USA become anything that someone like Pelosi should even pay attention to?

Maybe the Mexican Prez can ask Trump to appoint more Liberal Judges to the Courts?

^I wonder if Trump would pay attention to something like that?

    In other words:

Pelosi WON'T CARE. Nor, should she.:flagus:

Odd thing about Pelosi. She represents a different country than the one that Obrador does. I am sure she will take the letter under advisement and consult her caucus in due course just as Moscow Mitch would in the Senate

I think its better to take more care and have no deal, than end up with another international deal that some President like Trump, rips up in front of the entire world a few years later. Lets not sign anything until maybe after 2020 when we are sure the American people have a voice in this decision by electing representatives and a president based on their views on this 'agreement'. I know Mitch feels the same way about SCOTUS appointments, and he would not want to rush this through without voter imput.

Sounds like you value democrat politics over peace and prosperity.

Its a shame that Top Dems don't place a priority on agreements that benefit both countries.

Do you agree with Pelosi using the USMCA as leverage for impeachment against her fellow house dems?

You are right, why should Pelosi care about the American people and economy. She has better things to do.

What is your opposition to the USMCA?

More proof that this Dem House has done zero to improve the lives of ordinary Americans, or Mexicans, or Canadians.....

I hope she keeps it up, it will provide a target rich environment for next fall's election. Apparently she doesn't know everybody doesn't have TDS.

Pelosi wont put it up for a vote-she's been stalling for over a year.

If it passed-it would boost the economy and benefit both nations and being a Top Dem she does not want that.

Just as slimy-she is using the bill as a "carrot" to convince her fellow dems to support impeachment (if they support it-she will eventually agree to put it up for a vote).

She's also blocking a pay increase for the military.

    Its how Top Dems do.

Truly, Democrats know nothing about job creation.

She isn't bothering to debate that and have the dems add their input. The reason is that the dems care more about politics that they do the American people.

This pisses me off to no end.

No I agree with Pelosi and Moscow Mitch that big decisions involving SCOTUS appointments and international treaties that cannot readily be 'amended' by simple statutes should wait until the election year results are in and a new Congress and President are chosen based in part on these as campaign issues. What's the rush? Its just a year.

Do you object to letting voters have a voice in this when they cast their ballots in 2020? Why shouldn't we wait and see if Trump is re-elected with a majority support for this treaty, rather than pass it have newbies sabotage or rip it up.

Presidents these days like to trash prior agreements made by their predecessors. the smart answer is not to pass them in the first place.

For one it specifies 70% of auto parts in autos sold here have to be made in North America.

When Fiona Hill worked in the Obama administration she was specifically never to use the word genocide for the Armenian genocide. In fact the previous Ambassador was sacked because he did.
