Most lottery winners wind up unhappy after a few years. I think this couple will be the exception. Good for them. I sat next to a lottery winner on a plane a few years ago. (Southwest Airlines) He liked being rich, but he was obviously upset about how his kids turned out. His kids were teenagers when he won the lottery. They lost all ambition and then in their mid 20s were doing nothing with their lives but mooching off of their parents. I kind of felt sorry for the guy.
Well, more power to them and hope they stick to their guns about not changing their lifestyle and values......
That winner made a major mistake in not setting down the rule from the beginning w/his kids and letting them know what he expected of them and it was not lazy moochers..... what a shame he didn't see the light and continued to enable them. Several yrs ago I watched a program about Donald Trump and his kids. He taught them from the beginning about $ and don't expect dad to come running to their rescue when they blew their allowance. His son in college learned that lesson when he blew his allowance and didn't have enuf $ to do his laundry. He said he was embarrassed when he, Donald Trump's son, had to ask his roommates to loan him a few bucks to wash his clothes... that would have been funny.
Don't have a problem. I just tho't 'it wasn't the moneys fault' was kind of an odd thing to say....... let it go.
You don't seem to get the point. The person on the plane, who's children did not grow up rich, were having problems handling money... Your point doesn't even make sense...If Trump's kids, who were raised with money...did not know how to budget money as adults...that is not a successful outcome.
Aw, for cryin out loud.... I happened to think of that interview of Trump's kids and how they were taught on how to handle $ and posted it. That's it - no biggie. I wasn't comparing Trump to the lottery winner....... And btw, there are kids of well-to-do parents who don't know how to handle $$. They always had everything handed to them. As I had said in my first post, the winner made a huge mistake by not letting his kids know upfront that they were not going to live high off the hog, that he expected them to get an education and move on w/their lives by providing for themselves like he had to do...$ will be there, but not by their whims and demands. What he did was create some selfish kids by being weak and stupid.
You know about as much about how Trump raised his kids as the lottery winner's. You think you believe you know
Why so snotty? Where did I say that I 'knew' how Trump 'raised his kids'? I simply told the story of his college son having to ask his roommates for some $ so he could do his laundry b/c he blew his allowance and his dad wouldn't give him anymore.... THIS CAME FROM HIS SON TALKING TO THE INTERVIEWER..... not me. If you have a problem w/me, just man up and say so. Don't make up silly crap about what I had said when I hadn't........
Of course she can say that...she knows she can have a bad and walk without worrying about how to pay her rent. Donald trump as an example of budgeting? Yikes.
I don't, he could always say no or give it away and live poor again, lol, being rich may not buy you happiness, but it makes the down times a lot more tolerable
I have eaten at the restaurant where she works ....I hope she wears a sign saying "Do Not Give Me a Tip" in case I don't recognize her.
