Major League Baseball announced Friday afternoon that the game would be moving out of the Atlanta Braves' Truist Park because of the state's new law that restricts voting rights. The MLB draft is also being moved out of Georgia.

Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement that "the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year's All-Star Game and MLB draft."

Kinda torn on this one... I've been listening to various podcasts saying the best way to protest this is not to impact the locals, just the local lawmakers, but I know that's a very fine line and difficult to achieve...

Actually, I've read some of the bill in question. To be fair, while some of it is clearly bonkers, some of it is just catching up to where the rest of the country is, and I agree with some of it. But then they had to go over the top with some items, thus inviting the massive backlash which is heading their way.

This is also sort of a hollow move because it was unlikely the ASG, just 3 months from now, would be a fully attended sports event and not the money maker it normally is.

Any thoughts on this "punishment" to the state of Georgia?

I posted earlier about Delta not being happy with the situation either. A few of the big name employers there are making their disapproval known. Only time will tell how big the fallout will be.

It clearly states in black and white that n*****s can't vote. I heard it on CNN.

It doesn’t restrict their right to vote, it restricts their ABILITY to vote. Shorter voting hours ALWAYS disproportionately effects the lowest wage earners. Thus, the new law shortens voting hours. Knowing full well that democrats overwhelmingly voted via the absentee process, they made changes to that process and limited drop boxes.

Urban areas, which very much vote democrat, have had limitations put on them also. The “food and water” provision was so blatant that Stevie Wonder could see that. In urban Atlanta the average wait time to vote in the primaries was over 3 hours (yet suburban Atlanta was like 10 minutes). SO now, you cannot give them comfort, thus, make it uncomfortable to stand in line and maybe they will just say “f it” and go home.

But I’m sure your ok with the voter to machine ratio in suburban Atlanta at 20-1, yet the urban ratio is 200-1

Stevie Wonder can see whats happening here. Just because they don't overtly call it the “keep the democrats from voting act”, thats pretty much what it is

Making it harder for one side to vote is the textbook definition of voter suppression

If it came out that urban Atlanta voted 90% for Republicans in 2020 (Pro Tip - They didn't), the Republicans would still try to make voting harder..... because..... just in case for next time...

Check out this conservative d-bag comparing standing in line to vote to standing in line for a ride at Disneyworld.... thus cementing his status as d-bag....

    https://www.thewrap.com/ben-shapiro-disneyland-voting/

I wonder if Mrs. Shapiro has ever had to stand in line more than 15 minutes to vote?? Bet not....

I stopped watching the NFL and as a lifetime fan I am surprised I don't miss it. I can't stop watching MLB as I never watched it to begin with. Too boring. So I don't give a flying [expletive] what they do or don't do. The idea that these sports leagues have that they provide an indispensable commodity and can therefore, afford to alienate millions of people by taking a side in political matters is hard to grasp.

Feel free to point out the exact place in Manfred's statement where "MLB lied"....

Forgot about Hank Aarons death... that would have been a nice touch to show a nice video in the city where he became a legend...

...because of the state's new law that restricts voting rights. <--- MLB

It improves the voting laws from Pre-Covid. WTF? Did you Leftists even read the thing? All we are getting is more and more and more lies from Leftists.

Way to go Stacy Abrams, your idiot ass just costs Atlanta the All-Star Game, millions in revenues, jobs, and the ability to honor Hank Aaron in the city he played for years.

They extended early voting by weeks and have 12 full hours of voting 7am-7pm. They also have no excuse early voting meaning anyone anywhere can walk up with their ID and vote for any reason. Repeat after me, they gave voters extra weeks to vote for any reason they want, that's not restriction this f'ing stupid. Typical division politics by the left. Go look at ole Joe's state voting restrictions and get back to me.

In other news, MLB shatters its record low rating.
    upload_2021-4-2_16-52-40.png

For context, it did significantly WORSE than Jordan Peterson on Joe Rogan:

In other words, becoming fascist is not really doing much to put eyes on professional sports.

That's the yahoo slant... that's not in Manfred's statement....

    Strike One...

And yes, I read through some of it and agree that some of it makes sense.... but the bad parts are really bad so the net result is not positive...

I don't know if any Leftists read it, but feel free to ask all you find...

I picture you speaking like Neidimeier in Animal House while you wrote your post. The idea that these sports leagues (corporations) are people too and are able to give all kinds of dark money to politicians is why they have the freedom of speech to take a political side. That same right that Colin Kaepernick used that I bet you found offensive.

Suburban areas are always going to have lower ratios. It's actually more efficient to have a higher ratio because you don't have empty machines. 12 hours/200 = 3.6 minutes per vote. This isn't about how many places you have to fill out your ballot, it's about loading the ballot into the machine. If you can't do that in under 216 seconds, then you need to get better volunteers.

Yes, it "improves" the laws that let Georgia have a free election with no fraud found and a record amount of voters. It ain't broken, so let's fix it.

Why? Oh right, that's where the white voters are!
No, but if true, why the low ratio in the suburbs?

With their BLM banners..... yes. You should know that Vermont's GOP governor has made the vaccine available to everybody but white people. It will be interesting to see how the courts react to the lawsuits that start coming in. Given the fall rate of all the institutions to critical race theory, I have utterly no doubt that the judiciary will go the way of sports and the MSM and the military and movies and the medical industry and hobbies, etc....

The MLB commissioner is a total idiot and has succumbed to the lies being told by Biden, the Dems, the MSM. Even the Atlanta Journal Constitution had to retract it's previous statements about the the law and admit it does NOT restrict voting and in fact opens it up even more.

Even the AJC had to post a retraction of the lie, see above. What say you now?

You do know the Washington Post gave Biden 4 Pinocchio's over this and his other lies about the bill?

As the AJC and the WaPo have both clearly stated. The President LIED he should make a formal apology and issue his retraction and urge MLB to reverse it's decision and not punish the people of Atlanta and Georgia economically on false premises.

    Show a little leadership Joe.
