Good question, SS. The main reasons i can think of:

    1. Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction
    2. SaddamÂ’s regime was a threat to the USA and to world peace
    3. SaddamÂ’s regime had links with international terror groups
    4. The war on Iraq was part of the war on international terrorism
    5. Freeing the Iraqi people from an oppressive regime
    6. Spreading Democracy in the Middle East.

Number one was obviously proven a falsehood, but the others are/were true.

Oh boy. Apart from the asinine assertion that Saddam was a 'threat to world peace' (I'd love to know the means by which he would be able to threaten anyone outside the region), the crap about 'Spreading Democracy' (in a nation which never asked for it), the lies we were fed (eventually after the other excuses had been seen through), about the war on terror, freeing people (America being altruistic? Give me a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing break!) and Saddam's tenuous (unproven) links to terrorist organisations, I'd say you were 100% accurate.

The Illuminati are the imaginary Boogey Man of every tinfoilo hat conspiracy nut.

Given "mainstream cred" by beoing mentioned in "Angels and Demons" the prequel to "The Davinci Code", both, of course WORKS OF FICTION.

We immediately ridicule those who invoke the "Illuminati"; you're sage here.

Nice to hear from you Mas; welcome back.

    Excellent.

So why, if there are so many Muslims against these attacks, didn't they eliminate the Al Qaeda threat and keep the west out of it?

You may have not noticed but OBL was pretty good at keeping himself to himself.
Why would Muslims be any more capable of tracking him down than the west?

Sounds like a bunch of barking loons.

How do you know any of them were Muslims?

You really think it is easier for a foreign nation - who speak a different language and have a totally different culture - to find OBL than people who live in the same town, who delivered his groceries and mail, who ate with or even lived with his guards?

If a US terrorist organization were to assault a foreign country, you can be sure that it would be found quickly BY OUR OWN PEOPLE. We wouldn't wait for Saudi Arabia to locate them.

Heck, the unibomber was turned in by his own brother. Criminals in the US are often turned in by friends and family, or at least by neighbors. You are telling me that OBL lived in that compound for years, yet the only people who knew or even suspected it were members of Al-Qaeda?

I'm betting that if/when wikileaks gets the intel that led to OBL, the initial and/or most important information came from a local citizen reporting him to the CIA. We may be able to persuade one person in thousands to tell us useful information, since we are foreigners, non-muslims and have a strong stigma against us in many middle eastern countries. Even so, that is one of the best sources for information leading to terrorists. It should be far easier for locals to gather together, capture and prosecute a criminal like OBL and the rest of his network.

    So why don't they?

In reality, radical Islam is the true Islam. Murder, meyhem, and misery are the core values of Islam.

Most reasonable Muslim-Americans choose to not discuss the legitimacy of their religion and the backlash towards Islam. I have friends that are Muslim-Americans, and they never discuss any of the matters that affect them as followers of Islam in the United States. These matters are personal. However, in any religion, you have fundamentalists and radical beleivers. In Judaism, you have Hasidic Judaism. In Christianity, you have various forms of Christian Fundamentalism. Some of these radical beleivers distort the truth. In the United States, we particularly examine Muslims in this matter.
