Good stuff. I'm helping coach our "little Hornet" program this year.

In Ohio, it goes sectional, district, state. Sectionals feed into 4 district tournaments.

I love the sport. I basically wrestled from age 5 to 18 every season. I've got a 2 year old son that I'm dying to get on the mat in a few years.

8.5 pts is a big spread by championship standards. They have the worst odds to win.

Florida State would also be underdogs against Alabama, Ohio State, TCU, Baylor, Mississippi State and Michigan state.

You have to look at strength of schedule and the absolute nail biters FSU has slipped by. Eventually their luck will run out, certainly against beating 3 of the 4 teams left...twice.

Could they win though? Yes of course.

There are not many who think FSU will win out right against Oregon, in a neutral sight with both teams having enough rest to be healthy.

    Heisman to Mariota

kid deserved it given that he carried Oregon

What I disagree with is the "analysts" getting into how far back the 2nd and 3rd place votes went. Why not rub more salt into 19 and 20 year old kids who are doing their best to not show their disappointment on national tv

I don't think that anyone had any doubts about Mariota winning the trophy this year. Oregon would have had to lose at least three games for anyone else to be considered. This was a "feel good" award, to rinse the palate of the voters from the vile stench of last year's "winner".

The Heisman Trophy is a joke. It doesn't go to the best player any longer -- it goes to the player with the most attractive public persona. Congrats to Marcus. He's a good player, and he managed to avoid doing or saying anything in public to embarrass himself or his University.

and I agree exactly with what you just said, The Heisman voters and the prestige of the award has been tarnished in the last few pics with manziel and Winston... I may think Jameis got a shaft as all the rape allegations keep haunting him and he can't shake it.... They Heisman committee was doing exactly what you said, trying to restore the prestige of it.

Marcus Mariota has been a very good qb on a consistently good team throughout the past 4 seasons. He's kept his nose clean the entire time.... and he was a qb.... There was no doubt in my mind that he was going to win it.

    Congrats to him.

I think ESPN going on and on and on about "how big a margain" he won by was done more so to show "he was really good and look, a good, clean cut, articulate player won"

The biggest snub I saw this weekend was not that jameis finished 6th in the voting, but rather, that Roberto Aguya didn't win the best field goal kicker award. WHAT.A.BUNCH.OF.CRAP!!!!11

the kid has missed 3 total field goals.... EVER, and no PAT's and Maryland's kicker gets it?

FSU blogs, warchant, etc... are of course on the "#FSUBias" rants on the facebook pages... but I'm perplexed as to why Aguya didn't win the award.

I not only put Aguyo as the best FG kicker that FSU has ever had (which includes Janakowski), but I put him up there with the best of all time in the college ranks, period... yet he can't win it either of the two years he's been at FSU?

Something smells fishy. I'm not saying the Maryland kicker isn't good.... I'm just hard pressed to think, if ANY coach is attempting to kick a game winning fieldgoal for them, no matter the distance and they have a choice of ANY fg kicker to send in for them.... I am hard pressed to think that any team would choose anyone other than Aguyo.

The only thing preventing me from going full out #FSUBias everywhere is that Nick O'Leary did win the best Tight End award....

The sexual assault allegations were there last year, but the voters (quite fairly) treated them as only allegations. It is all of the stupid behavior in which Winston has engaged since last year that has left such a bad taste in everyone's mouths.

yeah... but it stayed dormant until this season again....

I don't even think the crab-legs were his big issue... he was not the same this year. I mean, Hell, he threw more pics against UF than Mariota threw all year.....

But I think voters saw Mariota as the "anti-Jameis" He's definately quality... but he's a (percievably) a good kid, too.

Yeah. I certainly have no problem with Marcus receiving the trophy. Then again, I've always thought that individual achievement awards should not be given as much publicity as the Heisman gets in a team sport. None of the winners could have qualified for the trophy had they not had excellent (if unheralded) team members surrounding them.
