Maybe you could actually answer the question rather than deflecting?

So it's OK to ignore the Word of God...If you're Christian?

    OK then.

It does away with the nonsense of demanding proof. Demanding proof of God is akin to demanding proof of love. A testimony of God isn't the entertainment of an idea, but the stirrings and embrace of spirit.

(Me:) "Name a couple of things essential to your existence that science didn't produce or improve."

    OK, one at a time:
    "God"
Myth. A belief with no evidence for it.

    "Spirit"
Same story. What is "spirit" and what evidence is there that there is such a thing distinct from consciousness and "life force" ?

    "Life"
Are you telling me that science hasn't improved your life and its chances of continuing??

    "Earth"
You say science has not been used to improve earth? Is hydropower an improvement? Are planted forests improvements? Science has also been used to damage earth.

    "Nature"
You think science has not improved nature? How about restoration of endangered species? What about genetic modification of plants via selective propagation to create corn from what was previously a type of grass, or tomatoes, or bush beans from pole beans to simplify harvesting and provide more food, or improve any number of crops to make them more productive, more adaptable to different climates, and more nutritious? What about the breeding of dogs from wolves and the help breeds have provided to humans? You didn't think this through it seems.

    "Conscience"
Science created means of communication and improved the ability to publish the printed word, leading to wider teaching and learning of morals and ethics, That has a direct effect on your conscience.

You don't seem to have achieved your purposes with this response!

But it's explainable by science and facts. Think about who you love and who you don't love. Thing about why you love them and why you don't love others.

The "testimony of God" cannot be proven to be anything more than your own conscience and its inner voice. Any "testimony of God" outside of you and your own mind is no more than a myth that you either chose or didn't choose to believe.

You've experienced unconditional love???? I'll wager that you have experienced only conditions, human love, but never the Unconditional love that is attributed to "The Spirit". WHO did you experience unconditional love for? AS SOON AS YOU ANSWER THAT, you are then describing conditional love that is conditioned upon the identity of the person loved. Unconditional love has no subject. So it makes no distinction between who to love and not to love. ALL are loved the same without exception or variation. Anything else is conditioned and conditional.

BTW, unconditional love is not what you receive from someone else; it is rather what you experience flowing out from yourself in all directions and to everyone and everything within range of your awareness.

No, I'm saying that every law one sees in the Bible isn't necessarily a law from god directed to all people then and forever.

Some are laws laid down by the government for reasons of government, health, their economy and other such factors.

Some are superseded by the new religion laid out in the new testament.

    Etc.

As I said before, read Leviticus. Have you done that?

A testimony of God is proven to oneself by the spirit of God testifying of his existence by occupying your temple. It isn't a contrivance or an intellectual summit. It is to be known by his spirit and thus know him. It is to be awakened to a remembrance of him. Everyone actually knows God but has forgotten him. This sounds absurd to those whose lives are all they know. It is nevertheless true, and not a contrivance or consideration.

    Not since I was 10.

    Look, admit or walk away.

What you are saying is that one may pick and choose which parts of the bible to believe, which laws to follow, which commandments to follow...because following them is inconvenient.

It's OK to speak the truth, even to God.

Science does not create or improve any of those things. Science is merely a tool or an accoutrement that we create to advance the truth. But it doesn't create or improve the truth. In fact one could make an argument for the damage done by science and the efforts using science to address the mess it made.

I agree that demanding proof is of no use, as stated many times.

Emotions such as love have an important function for human existence. It's not surprising that humans would have the capacity to love as it better serves procreation and early protection and development. There are similar factors in a range of species.

For millennia, humans everywhere have developed dedication to their gods.

No, you can NOT just "pick and choose".

One has to carefully understand whether directives are part of local law or commandments for all humans forever.

    Also, the Bible includes allegory.

The Bible is a complex work not a monolithic religious prescription.

    So pick and choose.
Why do you feel the need to dance around what you've been saying on literally every response?

I don't care one way or the other

But your fellow Bible afficionados do.
If your picks are different than theirs...SIN CITY

And of course the heretics must be destroyed...

And then you have the last 6000 years of human history.

OK, but knowing the truth of how things work in this universe is important, wouldn't you agree?

Also, the proper division is that science doesn't create stuff. Engineering creates solutions that people want.

The fact that people don't always demand the best solutions isn't a knock on science.

Well, you need to read Leviticus. And, there are other important parts of the Bible that lead to some understanding of the most popular religions in America.

Knowing something of the Bible is important for multiple reasons, regardless of personal belief.

I'm gathering that you may be an atheist like me, but that isn't an excuse.

    Not an atheist.
    That requires belief.

My theory is the "God" created everything as a high school science project and now all of creation sits on a shelf in God's mom's garage waiting to be dumped in the trash.

My theory is every bit as provable as any other "god" theory.

Again, that is not an excuse for being ignorant of the Abrahamic faiths. Christianity is an important factor in America.

I'm no more "ignorant" of the "Abrahamic" faiths than I am of Sponge Bob.
    They share a common trait.
The ignorant believe they are real.

OK, you have shown that you ARE ignorant of the Abrahamic faiths and that in fact, you have no interest in solving that.

    So, I'm no longer interested.

I don't know about the gods of millennia. I was born into a non religious home. Myself and my life were my God so to speak. Then one day, Gods spirit came to me and knew me in following my prayer and invitation. In his knowing of me, I recognized and remembered him. And I realized that true life is in him, rather than in myself or my life alone. God added his spirit to the equation. It is all that I know. Everything else is attendant to this basic truth, which is my foundation. It is akin to Peters revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Upon hearing it, Jesus said blessed art thou Peter, for flesh hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. This is how God restores his kingdom to the earth, thru many individuals and the gathering of Israel. Remember Jesus's prayer: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven...? give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
I don't mean to sound pious or hyper religious. But Gods work is advancing in the earth.

The Bible is compilation assimilated from many other sources including from the Sumerians, Hitites, Egyptions, Romans and many other lithic, copper and iron age traditions modified by thousands of hand making changes to the content during manual dubious language translations and transcriptions over the last 3,000 years, witings that have evolved over time to cover various criticisms over time, that still have failed to eliminate logical inconsistencies.Yes, an elaborate, still evolving work, work of a Boltzman Brain.I know because God told me so.

It's how men use it that matters. That's what the gospel addresses.

It's called "faith". There's a reason for that.

Remember you're the own who has no idea what "The Presence" is, or what "The Anointing" is.

I do believe that is hyper pious and not a soundly based argument.

And particularly so when combined with the fabulously presumptive: "Everyone actually knows God but has forgotten him."
