The President is very comfortable to have his supporters believe that the Democrats shut down the wall. He must be laughing at them.

There was only 1 shutdown in that past weeks and Trump was responsible.
Per Trump: "I will take the mantle I will be the one to shut it down I’m not going to blame you (Schummer) for it the last time you shut it down it didn’t work I will take the mantle of shutting down and I’m going to shut it down for border security".

Psst. here's a clue. You guys have to elect a man who can make a promise, and keep it for more than 24 hours. Dems won't negotiate in good faith with someone who can't be trusted.

What's to negotiate? The Southern border desperately needs a wall, the Democrats had earlier approved a wall, or fence, and even budgeted for it.

This isn't about Donald Trump, despite the best efforts of leftists to paint it as such. All Democrats have to do is build another barrier, but this time do it more effectively.

"The Secure Fence Act of 2006, which was passed by a Republican Congress and signed by President George W. Bush, authorized about 700 miles of fencing along certain stretches of land between the border of the United States and Mexico.

The act also authorized the use of more vehicle barriers, checkpoints and lighting to curb illegal immigration, and the use of advanced technology such as satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles.

At the time the act was being considered, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer were all members of the Senate. (Schumer of New York is now the Senate minority leader.)

Obama, Clinton, Schumer and 23 other Democratic senators voted in favor of the act when it passed in the Senate by a vote of 80 to 19."

This endangerment of Americans and national security makes the charges of Democrats wanting to import illegal voters all the more plausible.

Psst, here's a clue, Fred. That 2006 bill was the result of negotiations and compromises like every other major immigration and border security bill that ever passed I haven't researched the horsetrading involved in writing and amending and passing that bill. George W Bush was an entirely different President with a very different style of leadership, and a very different view of this issue than Trump. He also had this habit of sending clear signals to his own party leadership of exactly what he was on board with and he did not change his mind every time he saw a Fox story and tweet conflicting cues within hours of each other.

In my opinion the Dems should NEVER negociate with Donald Trump on any issue at any time. Dems should only negociate with GOP leaders that they can trust to keep their word. This man is a basketcase. Right now, nobody has any business negotiating until the new Congress is seated in January and leadership has been formally chosen. Its an adults only conversation, and the orange haired toddler needs to put to bed first.

Just so you know why the steel slats are a very bad idea.

First of all illegal entry between legal entry points is at it's lowest in 20 years. For every illegal alien via that route 5 have entered legally and overstayed their visa and another 1.5 were smuggled in at a legal checkpoint. To devote huge resources to build the steel slats would be like the fire department responding to two calls by sending three trucks to a garden shed fire and one to a 5 story hospital fully engulfed.

The DEA says the overwhelming vast majority of drugs come in via legal entry. Boats, planes, trucks and courier. Any that currently comes in between check points will just use drones to go over the steel slats.

The steel slats would have a very negative environmental impact on migratory animals.

Like the Berlin wall the steel slats would be most effective at keeping people in. On the Mexican side ladders can be erected with ropes dropped down on the US side but anyone seen driving towards the steel slats on the US side with a ladder is sure to draw unwanted attention. Many of the illegals that enter legally and represent the vast majority of them leave to visit their families between check points because to leave via a check point exposes them to be found with expired visas. Getting caught means 20 years of no chance at coming in via visa again. So if the steel slats are erected those who would have left are more inclined to stay longer or find ways to smuggle their families in.

The steel slats are at best unproductive and more likely destructive. Taking money to build a monument to racism that could be used to actually address the problem is folly. To shut down the government and to stop paying people in the Coast Guard that actually do stop smugglers to get funding for the steel slats is beyond folly and into treasonous.

We don't desperately need the wall, we desperately need not to waste money on one.

The Republicans in the senate could have brought it to the floor but could only muster 47 of the 50 votes needed. Even Republican senators didn't see merit in Trump's "proposal". Trump owns it 100% with Repulican senate complicit for the sole purpose of building a monument to bigotry

You can pass a dime bag through a slat and cash is flat!

And the way Trump looks lately, he could use a hit!

The problem is that Trump may agree to a compromise and then call talk show hosts and change his mind. That is the now.
Recently when the 2 Senate and House leaders went to the Whitehouse expecting Trump to sign the deal, he had talked to Limbaugh of all people and changed his mind. Then McConnel walked away from Trump.

We seem to be venturing off of the thread path lately...

    How is Nancy's vacation going??

Is she jet-skiing? Is she "snacking on a gluten-free grilled prawn summer roll for $19."?? Pool volleyball??

We can talk about the idiot's wall anytime, but there are so few chances to discuss Hawaiian vacations on PF.com....

To steal freely from the 2nd biggest crook in American Presidential history, I hope she's "tanned, rested, and ready" for 2019!!

Then abandon the useless and expensive monument to bigotry and get to work on border security! The wall has absolutely zilch to do with border security.

Then why does the democrats bill have even more money for a "fence" in it? Apparently they think barriers work but won't fund Trump's barrier due to politics.

What about Obama and his basketballs ?

Obama goes on vacation and forgets his basketballs.

Lets sen a Marine V-22 Osprey all the way back to the White House to pick up Obama's basketballs.

Lets not forget Obama's vacation that killed 12 U.S. Marines.

    Bush inherited Clinton's military.

Democrats have to eventually negotiate with the President because he's the one who signs the bills. And I'd prefer an 'adults only conversation' also but then you add "the orange haired toddler needs to put to bed first". Why not keep it adult so genuine issues may be discussed?
