Another free-speech blow-up. Who's right and wrong here? Should Netflix stand it's ground:

 

Of course they should, why should 3 employees at Netflix who got their panties in a wad dictate what is "acceptable"? I think the ratings reflect the general consensus.

How come we never hear about whitephobia when blacks make jokes about whites or manphobia when women make jokes about men? I haven't watched his special yet but plan to over the weekend.

Appeasing these censoring bastards never works, it does not appease them, it inflames them. Give in and their demands will simply become more numerous, constant and even more rights violating.

 

I'm not sure which is more ridiculous- Chapelle starting his act with 'I'm rich and famous' and ending with 'I'm more oppressed than you' (addressing white trans people), or the trans community responding by trying to 'cancel' (oppress) him.

It probably shouldn't but certainly does help that Chapelle is perfectly hilarious.

This isn't the first time there has been some sort of woke revolt in a company. It's been pretty common in publishing houses. However it's almost always succeeded. I can't think of a time in which the company stood firm and either forced it's koo koo employees to back down, or fire them. If it happens with Netflix, it will be a first.

 

They'll "fix" that science textbook in the updates.

I'll stick with Netflix if they DON'T cave.

This is a test to see who runs the company.

The most common response is to cave as the tantrum builds, which rewards the tantrum. After that they own the company, continuing to escalate with more and more unreasonable demands with the threat of greater and greater tantrums if not conceded to.

 

His last special was exceptional, some of the best comedy I've seen in the past 10 years.

I can see why the woke were offended by it, but there was nothing in it that should cause offense in a reasonable person.

If you can't handle it, there's a button on your remote that says "exit" or "back". Use it.

 

I'm against discrimination and for free speech, I never thought those would be conflicting. I don't think they are.

Sexual identity has never fit in the ridged WASP box of "normal; whatever that is. Progressive's realize that ALL Americans have something to contribute, given a chance. And sexual identity shouldn't be disqualifying.

On the other hand, we've lost something valuable when we get to the point we can't laugh ourselves. I watched that program, Chappelle did what he does. Nothing and nobody is exempt from his sarcasm.

In an hour long program he spent a few minutes laughing at transvestites. He laughs at evebody. Hell if he doesn't make fun of you that's when to be offended for being left out. IMHO.

That was a great special. It’s even better when, not unlike so many times in the past, someone gets their feelings hurt. We had someone try and tell us that a cartoon caused billions to suffer which was equally stupid.
