DeSantis is planning to end birthright citizenship, meaning being born in US no longer means you are a citizen. He detailed other measures too, and added he'd do as much as possible vie Executive Order rather than legislation.

Of course most people understand what moving people from one State to another doesnt actually reduce the number of illegals in US, not to mention the people he moves around are not even illegals

Moving people to states that support illegal immigration is simply a means of moving the burden of our failed immigration policy to the states that support it. And the only reason the vast majority of these people are not illegal is because the administration is refusing to follow immigration laws. So that's not exactly a strong argument on your part.

Asylum seekers are legal, because the law says so, and laws need to be followed. Burning millions to shuffle people around from State to State is as stupid as stupid gets, - its idiotic.

And no, vast majority are not asylum seekers, only about 15% are, and out of those very few have their applications passed

It is feasible, very, very, very desirable, and the only level of implacability involved is with whiny people (like say, you) who think every human has a birthright to be in the United States. Then, of course, there is the problem with leftist-run political sub-divisions like States and cities rolling out the welcome mat to these criminals in the form of 'sanctuary' districts where they blatantly violate federal law which should, in a just country, subject those same pols to criminal sanctions and jail time themselves!

In addition, those who employ them ought be subject to harsh, harsh criminal sanctions, a mandatory felony, with at least one year in prison for even a first offense, and one that cannot under any circumstances be pled down. All the way from the HR rep to the CEO, anyone who knew, or should have known should go to jail. The illegals themselves should, upon even the most minor contact with law enforcement, be arrested, charged with, and if convicted of violating our national borders, do jailtime themselves followed by a one-way trip home for which we bill them, their families, and/or their governments. In addition, anyone convicted of being an illegal should be banned, for life, from ever being admitted to the United States again, even for a vacation.

Once you have proved yourself to be untrustworthy, well, that hardly ever changes.

As for the poor, poor farmers who can't survive without their slaves, well, put 'em out of business, confiscate their assets, auction them off, and make damn well sure whoever buys it understands just how harsh they will get it if they follow in their predecessor's footprints. As I've said more times than I can count, I don't give a flying f if that means we have to pay $0.28 more for a serving of fruit, so be it.

We are a sovereign country, and it's time to reclaim that. We don't even owe American citizens anything, much less people who don't belong or deserve to be here.

    Any questions??

Life should be hard for them, to the point they literally live in fear lest they be ratted out or pulled over by law enforcement.

For at least part of those centuries, we pretty much did have open borders, as you should know if you've spent more than say, 5 minutes studying this situation. They used to arrive by the literal boatload into NYC (and likely other places, but that is beyond the scope of my personal knowledge), and many of them came to acclimate, learn to speak English, and better themselves. They frequently had a strong work ethic as well.

Regan signed a law granting amnesty when I was in JHS or HS, and as I recall it was done on the condition that it was one and done, and that Congress would never ask for such a thing again, but here we are a few decades later, and many Congress critters, some of whom weren't even born when that happened, are endorsing precisely that, as are many other leftists such as yourself. No. Enough is enough.

    #sendthemhome

No, it's not. You yourself keep talking about how certain industries 'need' the low-cost labor that illegal immigrants provide, many of whom work for less than minimum wage under the table because of the personal risks they face, and should face, if they complain to authorities. That sounds an awful lot like both slavery and the arguments used way back in the day of that hideous institution as an excuse to keep it.

    It's a spot on analogy.

I'm with you about legalizing drugs (and I mean the entire production chain, from seed to processor to distributor to retailer to end-user) and ending the war on drugs. That said, we owe the governments of those countries nothing, and we should not be held responsible for the problems their own internal corruption and graft have led us to. But, putting the cartels out of business will not only help that a lot, it will free up a lot of spending to reduce deficits, cut taxes, and shrink the number of incarcerated individuals, as well as drastically reducing violence here at home by putting our street gangs also out of the drug business. Don't know about you, but I never heard of a turf war in between Duane Read and Walgreens, and I don't expect that to change if I can walk in there and buy my coke the same way I can now walk into a retail store and legally buy weed.

Those should be the easiest part of the problem to solve, because in theory (and if not in practice, it wouldn't be hard at all) we know who came in, when, by what means, where they are supposed to be staying, and when they are supposed to skedaddle. If they are still here 24 hours after that deadline, send law enforcement out to arrest them where they reported they were staying, and if they aren't there, we can use some of the freed up jailspace from ending the war on some drugs to house those people while they think about the errors of their ways for a few years before we deport them, too!!!

So? They can and should do something, anything, to increase their value to employers so they won't be underpaid anymore. But sadly, many to most are too lazy to do anything about their situations in life, so they muddle along, sucking the rest of us dry, and have a feeling of expecting to be taken care of. No mas.

If you are over age 20, and still working a high school student's job, somewhere along the line you done f-ed up. Not my problem. A trained monkey could be taught to flip a burger, as can those who never graduated high school and can barely read or write, if that. When I worked at Mickey D's, at the ages of 15-16, the only non-managerial adults who also worked there were invariably high school dropouts, and while there were a couple who were still old enough to be bangable in the eyes of this 16-year-old, they were generally dumb as rocks.

Certain jobs are not meant to be, nor do the economics allow for them to be, full-time careers that earn enough for the 3.2 kids, house with a white picket fence, and etc. That's just real talk.

That's cute that you think 70% of federal revenues are coming from those people so broke they whine about paying market rent prices, and expect mommy government to steal from "the rich" so they can live where they feel entitled to.

    Please.

I spent over a decade in what is probably the biggest bastion of liberalism in the entire country, a city known as New York. The sucklers vastly outnumbered those of us who were working 50+ hours a week, wearing suits to business meetings, and getting sh|t done, and in all of that time, I never met a person who self-identified as 'liberal'. To the contrary, to a person, every single vendor, co-worker, and customer of mine, save one, whose politics I knew thought the same as I do.

If you want to pay 60% of your income so that some government flunky can give you the job of your dreams, you're living in the wrong place! Then again, considering what you do for a living and what it took just to get your foot in the door, you already know that.

The law says asylum seekers are required to be detained while their application is in process. Additionally, most of these cases can and should be dismissed through the prescreening process. The fact that we have a bazillion "asylum seekers" roaming the streets is a symptom of a failure to comply with our immigration laws and is the result of a lenient administration that is not following the law. And, if the law were followed we would see far less people showing up at our border, far less women and children being raped, fewer people being killed on the journey, and fewer poor migrants ending up in effective slavery in the US. We would also reduce a huge revenue stream for the cartels.

The irony seems to be that just like the opening post in this thread people seem to be supportive/accepting of this criminal element of the system as long as it results in more migrants. Also, asylum seekers have legal rights to work in the US and would not be blocked by this law. So I'm not sure why you're going off on this other than to state your support for a disaster being thrusted upon our nation. Seems to be par for the course and is now expected whenever there's a thread on this forum that mentions DeSantis though.

You believe that if you want.

But in the context of this discussion, the number of illegal immigrants working in Florida is a very small percentage of the total workforce.

Americans need to work and contribute. That should be a higher priority than non-american jobs, and they are related.

Illegal immigrants provide excess labor supply driving down wages. They may pay taxes, but they also depend on benefits and services, and from a federal perspective likely are negative tax liable.

Our priorities are screwed up in this country, and this thread is an example.

Even so, a state that is getting indundated with up to a million immigrants per year just because Blue run states wants them in, should not be held liable for supporting and accomodating those immigrants. Gotta share the responsibility, so those other states get their fair share of handling the immigrants.

most are not rich enough to retire at 54... but to those that are blessed enough to be able to, more power to them

the fact is, most can not afford to retire without social security or a pension of some sort

So, you want to deport 15 million people all at once?

If you don't, then you support illegal immigration.

    THAT is your logic.

If you DO, then that is interesting because it is IMPOSSIBLE.

so, while you are correct technically, your failure to recognize the more complex reality clearly shows you are leaving out context, which means your comment is disingenuous.

You have screenshotted the wrong comment.

THIS, below, is YOUR comment to which I replied, which clearly IS a loaded question:

    You wrote:

If you don't believe in labor laws for illegals, why do you believe in them for actual American citizens?

You incorrectly assume I do not believe in labor laws for illegals. To properly ask that question, you have to prove that I do not believe in labor laws for illegals, or, at the mininame, explain your reasoning and then AFTER I accept the veracity of your premise, after we, at the minimum, reach a meeting of mind on that premise,
then you can ask the question.

    Proof, (screenshot):

No president, to date, has solved the Border problem. this idea that, for all the right's criticism of Biden, that they are going to get it right defies history.

The big difference is that Republicans are willing to be cruel and inhumane and Democrats are not.

So, if 'Christian values' has anything to do with this conversation, I doubt Jesus would be siding with Republicans.

No, the corporations should stop exploiting workers. Congress should act, but as long as republicans are blocking legislation to solve the problem, it's hard for Demcocrats for fix it. What, you think an individual has the same bargaining power as a big corporation? No way. Your contention doesn't reflect reality. Now, if Repubiclans would support unionizing the corporations, that would give the workers the power to bargain. But Republicans hate unions. They don't like the little guy, they want corporations to continue to exploit workers.
Oh bullshit. I mean, you are a cynic and full of it. I've known a lot of working class folks, I grew up amongst them. they are hard working and many these days have to work more than one job .
Not every one is endowed with the talent to rise to higher economic status. In the forest, there are dandelions and sunflowers, but the attitude of a right winger is, well, just because you are a dandelion, hell, next time you climb out of bed, just be a sunflower and all will be well. I'm sorry, not every one can be a sunflower. And, if you are metaphor challenged, let me know and I will explain it to you.

No, that's not life, that's not reality, and in the cruel dog eat dog jungle 'i-got-mine-and-screw-you' mentality of the libertarian dystopia you favor, the electorate will vote for democrats more than they will republicans, every time because most folks don't want to live in your kind of society.

You're not making any sense. The fact pattern here is that Florida passed a law that enhances the penalties for knowingly hiring or transporting illegal aliens. Both of which are already illegal. One is a violation of state and federal employment law, and the other is a violation of federal and state criminal law. The law DeSantis signed doesn't make these things illegal; they already are. You've spent this entire thread defending illegal behavior seemingly because you want cheap "cabbage." People in this country illegally should be deported. That's what the law says. That is what our federal government is supposed to be doing. Once they start doing that, the market will correct itself. Surprisingly, countries worldwide manage to be prosperous without exploiting Central and South American laborers and creating a pipeline that results in mass rapes of women and children. Shocking, I know.

As per your stupid question. Nobody has ever claimed you can deport "15 million people all at once." But, you can deport them over time as you find them and shut off the magnet that creates this pipeline. There's no incentive to reform our immigration system while members of the far left and cultural Marxists insist on the only consequence for violating our immigration laws is a reward for doing so.

Today I learned every other country in the world is inhumane, cruel, unGodly, and sick. Thanks for this important piece of information.
