The officers had called the ambulance and were trying to get him to remain calm and stop resisting and thrashing about and yelling and screaming. Read the transcripts where they keep telling him to stop screaming so he could breath easier. They were trying to get him to sit in the police SUV which was more comfortable than the sidewalk and probably had the AC running. But Floyd had already busted his mouth open thrashing about fighting the arrest.

No and I don't support Chauvin and wouldn't even if Floyd had lived, he should be charged with inflicting pain and suffering, an assault.

Imagine if Floyd pulled the trigger when he pointed his gun at the pregnant women's stomach?

Oh that's right. He was a "good citizen".

Or playing it close to the vest knowing there was no grounds for murder and a ruse to quell a blood thirsty mob. These police officers have already been tried an convicted by the media and the mob, anything less than murder convictions will ratchet up the riots. It's hard to see it going any other way.

This is really the core fact of the matter and cuts through everything else.

So, the body cam video was in possession of Democrat city government and Democrat state government. Can anyone think of a logical reason why Democrats would withhold a video that would shed light on the events and perhaps quell violence?

That's your opinion based in truth and sanity. But if the jury is all black or black and the rest guilt riddled ignorant liberal whites, those guys are toast. Total bullshit, but toast.

This is not unlike the Priesthood, or Scout leaders, or teachers, or any other area where trust is paramount and abuse of the trust needs to be stamped out. Very, very few priests, scout leaders and teachers are pedophiles yet because some were discovered and in some cases covered up, a much, much higher scrutiny has been placed on them in general because they are in positions where parents are entrusting their children and a "few bad apples" can't be tolerated.
We hold police in such a high level of trust we arm them with lethal weapons. We know that just like the others the overwhelming majority of police are worthy of that trust. But they have a "few bad apples". It's them we want to get rid of and that does mean a higher scrutiny of all police just like all teachers are fingerprinted. Had the Catholic Churches dealt with their pedophiles instead of covering up for them the church would have saved a lot of money in lawsuits, saved the reputation in general of other priests and most importantly saved a lot of kids from abuse. If the police went after their bad apples and the police unions joined the fight to protect the reputations of all cops by getting rid of their bad apples there would have been no protests, all cops would be trusted and respected and a lot of people would still be alive today.

I often wonder what would have happened if Chauvin had been an African American cop.
    Would there be this uproar?
I suspect given that equality between the two men, people might see this as simply a cop taking down a man who had just committed a crime and Floyd’s violent criminal history would be evidence that he was hardly a victim.

    "Claiming to be?"
It's a FACT isn't it? We can see Floyd in the video.

No. That act was outside of police procedure as far as I know. However, you have to admit, this differs from the narrative doesn't it?

And you're sure that's all that the protests were about? Nothing about institutional racism?

I don't think he would get away with it IF it was a sensible charge, rather than murder.

    From the article:

"Ultimately, the initial report overstated and misrepresented the role of chronic medical conditions, inappropriately alluded to intoxicants, and failed to acknowledge the stark reality that but for the defendant’s knee on George Floyd’s neck, he would not be dead today."'

We don't know this. You do realise that Floyd was having breathing problems prior to the knee on his neck, right?

Can't cops go to court while suspended?

BS its a relative rarity, and mostly happens when perps like Floyd refuse to cooperate under any circumstances. That being said in the best of all possible worlds the minute Floyd said he couldn't breathe the cops would have called an ambulance. But in the best of all possible worlds cops wouldn't hear that phrase about every third arrest from some punk trying to gain an advantage by which to carry on the struggle.

It isn't a system that unfairly targets certain populations. It is a few individuals.

It will come down to the cause of death and that will be difficult to prove. Excessive force was used, but if that was not the cause of death, then the policeman was not guilty of murder. You cannot convict someone of murder just because they used excessive force.

What excessive force? A knee on your neck? I’ve had a knee on my neck for quite a while while playing as OpFor in preparation for deployments in the army. Guess what? It doesn’t kill you. Unless you pay a doctor to make sure he comes to that conclusion, apparently. The dumbass had all kinds of drugs in his system. That is what killed him.

In fact, I think it makes it even worse. For Chauvin to hold his knee on the neck of a man AFTER he said he was having trouble breathing is even more unsettling.
