    .....

Wrong: After couples ventured out of their caves, the lady of the cave wanted legal protection for her offspring and herself if her cave-mate should lose a battle with a dinosaur, or she was swept away at the creek while washing her cave-mate's undies. Thus the local lords, wrote a legal document declaring them married and giving wives and their children legal ownership of the deceased husband's assets.

When marriage became necessary because of this new law, the state issued marriage licenses...the couple went to the magistrate, dressed in their best fig leaves, and had him marry them so that their children would be protected.
That was the sole reason for marriage.

Marriage was not within any church because cave people were too busy worshiping animals, the sun, and throwing each other into fiery pits on the weekends, so we can safely conclude that there was no religion to worry about.

Whilst not claiming to speak for anyone else, isn't it amazing folks like myself can be for something that is morally right and constitutional and against something that is morally wrong and unconstitutional?

Most people don't get married in a church, so why are those people allowed to refer to themselves as being 'married'?

Civil unions don't give gay couples the same rights as marriage. If they did, they would have to be called marriages, logically so.

Gay people do not want to be 'separate but equal'. That happened back in the fifties and how well did that work out?
