I waited in the cold today for 90 minutes to get groceries. I held up just fine but I felt terrible for the elderly. Such a f**king stupid policy. Lujan Grisham can suck my sack.

It's an IDIOTIC move! The lines are already insane in my small community. If we were to lose even a single grocery store you would be looking at a 3 hour wait just to pick up food for your family. I'm all for pragmatic ways to limit virus spread but this is not that.

I remember seeing a line like that in a grocery and hearing somebody say, "One of the reasons I left Russia was to get away from lines like that."

Do you have the option of just strolling into your local grocery store when you realize you need something? Must be nice.

You obviously don't live in NM. No way you're getting next day pick up. You're lucky to get this week pick up. You never wait more than 5 minutes for your order? You clearly don't live in NM. My wife waited a freaking hour last week to park to pick up on on-line order. It truly is insane.

Ummmm, lets just apply a f***cking smidge of logic.... The lines were already long and then they closed one of the available grocers. What, I wonder, might happen to the already long lines???? gtfoooh.

If Republicans had sympathy for poor people, they would top up poor folks' incomes while the pandemic continues.
Republicans keep trying to cut Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare.
You still don't get it. A significant number of people won't venture out more often than necessary to spend money as long as the virus is circulating widely. If businesses like bars, restaurants, gyms--businesses when operating are likely to spread the virus--aren't closed in order to reduce the number new cases, we won't see the economy recover.
Your "solution" won't work--indeed can't work--unless we get the new case count down.

Maybe it's worth mentioning that, everything else associated with the closing of grocery stores notwithstanding, if a person (ANY person) doesn't keep AT LEAST TWO WEEK'S WORTH OF FOOD in his home -- especially during a fugged-up year like 2020 has been -- then he has no common sense at all!

Members of the LDS Church are instructed to keep at least three month's worth of food in storage where they can put their hands on it at all times. Some 'survivalists' have expensive food in 'bunkers' that can supposedly remain edible for over TEN YEARS. Me? I have seen that you can accumulate quite a bit of canned food -- enough to last for a year or two -- and actually spend very little.

Recommendations: Get enough canned food to feed yourself for at least a couple months -- AND -- weapons with ammunition to protect yourself, your food, and other possessions. Rotate your food stock regularly so that none of it goes bad. Then, 'lock your doors, load your weapons, and mind your own damned business'! Nuff' said....

And that's a big part of why the virus continues circulating, why the economy is struggling as people stay away from malls, restaurants, airports, hotels, etc. and why the economy won't recover until the new case count comes down.

Of course. We could have public health inspectors camp out in grocery operations willfully violating the law rather than shut down stores.

Yeh, most people don’t get it. Hell, where I live there was never such a thing as two day Amazon Prime delivery. :) I’d guess much of NM is similar.

I've said the same myself. Turn the situation into an opportunity. With the store closed, employees could print out online lists - others could 'shop' and others could deliver. Is it ideal? No. But it solves a problem.

The virus circulates because it's virulent. The economy is struggling because State dictators have locked down their states and the lockdowns have achieved nothing. Let it circulate the mortality rate is extremely low.

The evidence isn't on your side. A significant number of people aren't venturing out of their homes to spend money. The economy isn't going to recover until more of them do.

The lockdowns are being done in many cases to stop hospitals from being overwhelmed by COVID-19 patients.

There is solid evidence economies do better when COVID-19 is held in check.

If we don't get a sold majority of Americans to get vaccinated or we don't develop really effective treatments we can give people outside of hospitals, we're going to be in a world of economic pain.
