New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday sued former President Donald Trump, the Trump Organization, three of his adult children, and others for allegedly widespread fraud involving false financial statements related to the company.

The lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court seeks at least $250 million in damages.

The complaint says that Trump’s personal financial statements “for the period 2011 through 2021 were fraudulent and misleading in both their composition and presentation.”

″ The number of grossly inflated asset values is staggering, affecting most if not all of the real estate holdings in any given year. All told, Mr. Trump, the Trump Organization, and the other Defendants, as part of a repeated pattern and common scheme, derived more than 200 false and misleading valuations of assets included in the 11 Statements covering 2011 through 2021.”

Another legal front opens up for the Trump crime family. He certainly is doing his part to keep attorneys employed. Especially sh$tty ones. Like the one who lied to the DoJ about whether all the classified docs had been returned.

Why did the same AG drop the CRIMINAL case then post this one in a CIVIL court?

 

It is looking more and more like the CIVIL lawsuit is a staggering lawfare attack on Trump as the details trickles out no wonder why she DROPPED her 3-year Criminal investigation against him because she doesn't have a viable case to prosecute.

Leftists hate of Trump is destroying them and their sanity.

The AG didn't drop the criminal case. The DA took over the criminal portion, has made criminal indictments, and is continuing to investigate. The AG has been heading the civil investigation. This isn't new.

just a guess - the suit results in monet . "preponderance of evidence" is all that is required. a criminal case can be appealed forever and requires "beyond a reasonable doubt."

 

So, the takeaway here is that ms Letitia couldn't get a criminal complaint through, so she's going to try civil court.. Laughable. Could we all just agree that this is a nuisance complaint and make Latitia write on the chalkboard after school for like a year and disbar the woman for her abuse of office?

I think the criminal case was being investigated by the Manhattan DA, not the NY AG.

There is a difference between the witch hunt against him and individual business cases. If any billionaire was scrutinized to the level of Trump, I bet we could find lots of similar things.
If Trump somehow did something illegal with his businesses he should have to answer for it. That's WORLDS APART from fake Russian collusion hoax. Well, as I have learned over the years, it certainly is not possible for me to get any Trump supporter to accept the truth. All I can do is show it to them.

 

James has filed a criminal referral with federal prosecutors and the IRS.

 

The NY AG never had a criminal case, (she can only do civil) it was the Manhattan DA, and Bragg didn't actually drop it, he just said it's "ongoing', Bragg just wants more evidence, as if plenty isn't enough, but he's intimidated by the specter of prosecuting a former president. But, two of his top prosecutors resigned in protest because they felt there was enough evidence to indict and he is still slow walking the thing.
