http://www.ny1.com/content/news/202...erito-announce-paid-sick-leave-expansion-plan NYC is to expand its mandated paid sick-leave law, to include businesses that have 5 or more employees. Makes sense, as sick workers can make other workers sick and sicken customers. Hopefully other states and cities will learn form NYC.
it protects other workers from getting sick. it protects customers from gettign sick. it protects company from faulty products made by sick worker. and most importantly, it shows compassion to fellow human beings.
Does this mean that small business' will stop hiring more than four workers, and large business' will start leaving New York City? Is that good for the economy?
I doubt it; my company employs thousands of workers and they already have a very good policy on sick days. It's better for the economy since if people are sick, especially inthe service industry, people won't come back if the contract an illness from one of the workers.
