A man shot by Oakland police Wednesday afternoon after a pursuit and alleged carjacking attempt in West Oakland died at a hospital from his injuries. The suspect's name was Joe Bart. Police pursued him about seven miles until he crashed into another car. The suspect armed with a handgun ran from his car and tried to carjack another driver but was shot by three police officers. Two main theories by dozens of eyewitnesses here: he tried to surrender but was shot, he was shot in the back. Protest began as soon as police left the crime zone. Then came militarized cops. Oakland blacklivesmatter protesters do the same as their fellows in Ferguson and Baltimore. All mainstream media are silent, no news about whats going on in Oakland. Twitter burns. http://kron4.com/2015/08/12/oakland-police-officers-involved-in-shooting/
did he have the gun in his hand still? shot in the back was he caring the gun at the time?aiming at the car person he wanted to hijack heres the gun
People need to learn to ditch their weapons. If you have anything in your hand that a cop may think is a weapon, you're dead.
will see have more info when the videos are released http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/loca...-Shoots-Wounds-Robbery-Suspect-321650532.html
The man attempting to carjack an individual while carrying a gun is sufficient reason to fire. Their only alternative would have been to wait and see if he shot the driver of the vehicle in order to steal it from them. How is this an issue with citizens? Cops were present, observed the felonious behavior, saw he was armed while attempting to carjack, and they shot at him. Regardless of being hit from the front or back, they were attempting to protect an innocent life. That it ended in his death is his fault entirely. Cops aren't always innocent of crimes against citizens, but in this case I can't see how they're guilty from the little bit we got from the news. Caveat: my assumption is that the news story is accurate.
damage done by protesters last nite oakland blocking hard working folks on freeway boulevards loonie white libreals out in force to using intimation commie SHOCK MOB style threatening way
there making money tax free from drug sales to buy there guns on the street blackmarket, exempt from Seattle style gun and ammo taxes.
Because black lives only matter when extinguished by the hands of a white police officer, circumstances be damned. That reads like a meme, but it's the reality.
Black people need to learn not to carry illegal guns, carjack people, drive danerously while fleeing police, resist arrest.....
No problem, it's understandable with the amount of PC white guilting the MSM and left leaning politicians/pundits put forth. It can be difficult to escape the leftist thought plantation.
Cops need to learn when not to pull the trigger. The training standards for most agencies are pathetic.
When fellow Blacks start demanding better behavior of their fellow man---then the cops won't have to shoot so much.
Says a lot about a community that will protest about an armed criminal shot during the commission of a crime. Wow...
commit a crime WITH a gun, your probably going to be shot..... in fact if you carry a gun and are suspected of a crime, your probably going to be shot..... as your an armed suspect .
Maybe the cops should have waited until he shot the carjack victim. I bet you weren't that victim or you would have a different opinion.
I was speaking in general terms in response to another member's post. Do you disagree that training standards are low and the cops can better learn when to pull the trigger and when not to pull the trigger?
Oakland officers are, unlike their peers in places like Ferguson, trained to deescalate before resorting to deadly force. It's why there have been so few police shootings in the last few years in Oakland. On the other hand, the thugs in blue around the country seem not to hesitate at all to gun someone, white or black, down if they get the chance, and so it's going to lead to protest. Oakland police have also been under Federal review for over a decade and they have implemented a number of policies to increase professionalism and capability during that time.
Training standards vary across the US. It's always a good idea for anybody who carries a gun to know use of force laws better. This guy had already threatened to kill (or at least shoot) 2 people. I have no sympathy for him and am not going to take his side unless overwhelming proof comes out that he was murdered. Body cams could do just that, but I'm not holding my breath over it.
